Jennifer remained silent for a long while, making Asher think she was finally reflecting on her actions.
He continued, “Jennifer, you’re my sister, and I’ve always given you the best since we were kids. Even though I’ve been careless. sometimes and missed your feelings, I promise that won’t happen anymore.”
“What about now?” Jennifer shot back.
“Don’t make promises about the future. Right now, with this Sarah situation, you’re trying to manipulate me again. emotionally. Do you really think I’ll fall for that?”
“Jennifer, I’m just trying to protect our family. Do you want this incident to destroy the Hargreaves family?”
“It won’t destroy us. They’ll just have to suffer a bit. After all, they should have thought about the consequences before they acted.”
Jennifer continued, “And don’t even try to guilt–trip me with this phone call. Are you out of your mind?”
“Jennifer, why are you being so cold–hearted?”
“You guys were the cold–hearted ones from the start. Don’t play dumb. You’re just trying to force me to back down for your

Jennifer hung up and immediately blocked his number.
Feeling frustrated, Asher tried calling again, but the call wouldn’t go through.
That’s when he realized Jennifer had blocked him.
Asher was furious, turning to Daniel beside him. “Can you believe Jennifer’s attitude these days? I can’t even say a few words without her blocking me.”

“Asher, deep down, don’t you think you’re in the wrong here?”
“What did I do wrong? Wasn’t I just stating facts?”
Asher exploded in anger. “Go look at Sarah in the hospital room. Look at her condition. How can you still say that?”
“That’s a separate issue. Put yourself in Jennifer’s shoes. What would you have done in her position?”
Daniel’s question stopped Asher in his tracks.
Finally, he snapped back in embarrassed anger. “If I were Jennifer, I wouldn’t have caused all these problems in the first place, and I definitely wouldn’t have messed up the relationship with the Clark family like this.
“None of this would have happened today.”

As they argued, the nurse came out of the hospital room. “Ms. Campbell is threatening suicide again.”
Asher and Daniel rushed into the room to find Sarah crying hysterically. “Asher, just let me dic. I can’t go on living like this.”
When Sarah had woken up and seen the extent of her injuries, she’d fallen into complete despair.
She hadn’t expected the burns to be so extensive, and worse, they were on her face.
How could she marry into a wealthy family now that she was disfigured?
She felt she already couldn’t compete with Jennifer, and if her face were scarred, she’d have even less chance of ever measuring
- up.
Asher noticed the wound on Sarah’s neck and felt guilty. “Try to calm down. Dylan can definitely develop a scar removal cream. It’ll heal completely.”
“Stop lying to me, Asher. No cream can fix a scar like this.”
Sarah wasn’t naive enough to fall for such empty promises.
She looked at Asher with desperate eyes. “Asher, you have to help me find a solution.”
Asher remained silent.

Daniel spoke up. “What’s done is done. But why did you go after Jennifer in the first place?”
Sarah responded nervously. “I was just following Dylan’s instructions. I never meant to hurt Jennifer! The plan was just to knock her out! It wouldn’t have caused any real harm!”
Yet here she was, the one who’d ended up getting hurt the worst.
Daniel’s voice dripped with sarcasm. “You knew Jennifer had something dangerous, but you still went over there. That’s basically asking for trouble. Who else can you blame?”
Sarah was stunned, speechless for a moment, then burst into tears. “Look what happened to me! What else do you want me to do?”
“This is all self–inflicted. Maybe now you’ll learn your lesson.”
Though Daniel felt some sympathy for Sarah’s situation, when he thought about how she got injured, that sympathy quickly evaporated.
Sarah broke down. “Jennifer did this to me. Are we just going to let her get away with it?”
Since the Clark family needed something from Dylan, she was determined to make Jennifer pay by ruining her face, too.
Nothing less would satisfy her thirst for revenge!
