Jennifer’s lips curled into a cold smile as she listened to Dylan’s words. He hadn’t changed at all, still the same cold, selfish Dylan she knew.
Dylan continued, “If you ask me for help, as your brother, I wouldn’t just stand by and let you suffer.”
“Oh, really? Should I thank you for that?”
Without missing a beat, Jennifer leapt onto Dylan’s hospital bed, accidentally stepping on his bandaged leg. Dylan screamed in pain, “Are you trying to kill me?”
A wicked smile tugged at Jennifer’s lips. “Ha, so you do know?”
She yanked the blanket off Dylan and threw it over Sarah’s head, covering her face.
Then, with a sudden movement, Jennifer climbed on top of Sarah, pushing her to the floor.
Sarah screamed and struggled. “Jennifer, I’ll kill you for this!”
“Isn’t that what I should be saying to you?” Jennifer shot back, pulling the blanket off Sarah’s face to reveal her frightened expression.
She picked up the knife that had fallen earlier and lightly tapped Sarah’s cheek. “Are you calm now?”

satisfied. “It’s nice to see you finally lose it. You and Dylan really are definitely family. Both of you are equally nasty.”
Sarah could only look at Dylan, her voice pleading. “Dylan, help
me!”
But Dylan was too focused on his own pain. After Jennifer stepped on his injured leg, he was sweating and pale, unable to hide the agony.
When he finally snapped out of it and saw Jennifer pinning Sarah down, his face hardened, and he spoke coldly, “Jennifer, you’ve already ruined Sarah. Are you trying to kill her now?”
“She tried to kill me first,” Jennifer said matter–of–factly. “I was just defending myself.”
She turned her gaze back to Dylan. “I heard Sarah wanted to go to the hospital, so she sold you out to the Clark family, making you their target.”
Dylan’s expression shifted, his eyes narrowing. “And that’s still your fault.”
Sarah flinched, unable to speak in her own defense.
Jennifer looked down at Sarah with disdain. “If you don’t beg for mercy, I might just add another design to your face.”
“How dare you!” Sarah screeched, her voice desperate and
shrill.

Jennifer raised an eyebrow. “By then, you’ll already be disfigured. You’ll wish you were dead.”

A cruel smile spread across Jennifer’s face as Sarah’s expression. turned to terror. “I… I’m sorry. Please, I didn’t mean it.”
The threat of facial disfigurement made Sarah realize just how much worse things could get, especially with the damage already done to her neck.
Satisfied, Jennifer stood up, nonchalantly tossing the knife onto Dylan’s lap.
It grazed his hand, drawing a shallow cut that bled immediately.
Dylan’s eyes widened in shock. “Are you trying to destroy my hands? You know how important they are!”
His hands were his livelihood. How could he continue his
research if they were ruined?
Jennifer’s eyes glittered with mockery. “But after all these years, what have you really accomplished? Your hands seem pretty useless to me.”
“Jennifer, you’re going to hell for this,” Dylan hissed, his teeth grinding in rage.
Was she even human at this point?
Without another word, Jennifer turned and walked out of the room, her heart lightened by the small victory.

In the room, Sarah shakily got to her feet, her hand pressed to her face. Thankfully, she hadn’t been permanently disfigured.
She looked at Dylan, frustration and anger seeping into her voice. “Dylan, why didn’t you do anything? Jennifer has ruined us!”
Dylan glanced down at his leg, blood seeping through his pants, his expression cold and impatient. “What do you want me to do about Jennifer? You seem so capable. Why don’t you handle it yourself?”
“Dylan, you know how much pain I was in at the time, which is why I betrayed you. But I swear, I never wanted it to happen.”
Sarah knew that her betrayal had created a wall between them. Dylan had been distant lately, even telling her they’d deal with the scar on her neck later.
She knew Dylan was the only person she could still rely on.
Dylan’s gaze remained distant. “Go back to your room.”
“Dylan, I really understand now. I was forced into that situation. But isn’t Jennifer our biggest enemy right now?”
Sarah’s voice trembled, desperation in her eyes as she looked up at him. “Dylan, weren’t we close before?”
Dylan’s patience had clearly worn thin. “But you can’t just be completely useless, can you? Haven’t you seen that the company is almost bankrupt from the Clark family’s attacks? Can’t you do something useful for once?”
Sarah froze, her mind racing. “Dylan… Am I not your sister?”
