Chapter 11 Her Humiliation
Ariana Sutton’s POV
Ian obviously had more to say, but Stefan shot him a stern glare. “Shut it. Can you be quiet for at least two minutes?”
Finished
Silence swooped down on us, and lan looked at me awkwardly. I stood up. “Ill be going to the restroom. Staying around would just make things a lot worse between us. However, it was surprising to find out dan knew about Veronica, and he seemed to know her very well So. I’m the only friend–with–benefit Stefan never told his friends about. I’m the skeleton in his closet, never to see the light of day
I too wished to know the answer to Ian’s question. Why did Stefan take that woman to East Mercy? I worked there. Was he trying to tell me something? That I should leave? I laughed at myself. If that was true, then it was unnecessary. I was already going to leave this relationship, and no one could change my mind, so he didn’t need to try. Actually, I had no need to use the restroom, but I refused to go back so soon, so I scrolled through my phone before the basin to kill the time.
And then, a petite figure hopped and skipped her way to me. “Miss Sutton!”
The girl called out to me loudly, and I was jolted. Crap. My phone almost fell 1 looked at the girl. Oh. Aria. I patted her head. “Aria? Why are you here? Did you come with someone?”
Aria dodged my hand, pouting unhappily. “Don’t touch my hair. Figaro did these braids, and I don’t want them to get frizzled. Yeah, I came with Figaro. You want to see him, right? He told me you and he go way back. Are you guys dating?”
I had a lot of questions, but at first, I was shocked. “Do you know what dating means, girl?”
Precociously, the girl said, “Yep. You hold hands, have dinner together, and then you kiss.”
My lips twitched. Kids these days are so smart. “You need to use the bathroom, don’t you? Go
The girl entered the cubicle and came back out a while later. She stood on tiptoe to wash her hands, her eyes
eyes fixated on me, “Did you come here because you knew Figaro would show up?”
Hmm, she seems oddly on guard. Did Figaro’s last relationship traumatize the girl? Is that why she’s so on guard around we? Her questions were a little too straightforward and hard to answer. “No. You don’t have to be so on guard. If your brother and I were dating, we’d have gotten married a long time ago. I’m here for dinner. I’ll be going now.” Hey, I wasn’t lying. If I had said yes to Figaro, we might have already gotten married at this point.
Aria had more questions for me, but I left the bathroom before she could say anything else.
Figaro loved his sister. He was waiting outside the bathroom for Aria, and the sight of me surprised him for a moment. “Fancy seeing you here.”
A smile curled my lips. “Well, work is done, so I came to grab a bite. Didn’t think I’d run into you here. Nice seeing you, though
Figaro nodded while his sister tugged on his sleeve unhappily. Oh, she’s so cute. I trotted back to my seat.
My smile seemed to annoy Stefan, and his face fell.
For some reason unknown to me, lan asked a stupid question. “You know the Capehams, Ariana?”
I answered honestly. “He’s a college friend of mine. Not too close, really.”
And then, in an almost teasing manner, lan asked, “Is that so? But my sources say he used to be a suitor of yours.”
