Sarah’s face instantly turned ghostly pale. She knew exactly what they were talking about.
But right now, she had no other option. Dylan was ignoring her, and she hadn’t received any treatment since last night.
Jennifer glanced at Sarah’s lackeys. “Since you’re all so
sympathetic towards her, how about you start a fundraiser to cover Sarah’s medical bills?”
Lucy chimed in, “Yeah, you guys claim to care about Sarah. This is when a real friend steps in. Don’t just talk the talk. Put your money where your mouth is.”
The two sycophants exchanged a look, but said nothing.
After all, neither of them had much money. Sarah’s injuries were so severe, there was no way a little bit of cash would fix them.
Jennifer smirked. “Well, Sarah’s homeless now. Why don’t you two take her in? If you can’t cover her medical bills, at least you can rent her a place, right?”
Sarah looked at the two sycophants with a mixture of hope and disdain. If she could just find a temporary place to stay, anything would be better than wandering the streets.

Since Asher had canceled her credit card and kicked her out of the hospital, returning to Hargreaves Villa was out of the question.
She couldn’t even get in the door anymore.

They were waiting for the other to make the first move.
After a long silence, Jennifer spoke up, “What are you guys hesitating for? Didn’t you just say you’d step up for Sarah? How about you start a crowdfunding campaign to rent her a place?”
One of the sycophants nodded slowly. “We could all pitch in. I’ll contribute what I can. I don’t have much, but this is my part–time job money from yesterday.”
He pulled out 100 dollars.
The other sycophant reluctantly followed suit and handed over 200 dollars.
They exchanged a look and then turned to the rest of the
classmates. “Everyone, let’s chip in to help Sarah rent a place.”
The other students reluctantly contributed, but it was mostly small change.

“Is that it? Sarah normally lives in a mansion. 1000 dollars won’t even get her a decent room in a shared apartment. The bathroom would probably have to be shared too.”
Sarah’s heart sank when she saw the paltry amount. How could this be all they could gather?
Jennifer raised an eyebrow at the two sycophants. “You guys only chipped in 300 dollars? That’s not very generous, is it? I know you have more than that. Why don’t you dig into your savings?”
The two sycophants visibly shrank.
Jennifer leaned in with a knowing smile. “Now’s your chance to prove yourselves. You can’t be stingy if you want to win a girl’s heart, right?”
One of the sycophants mumbled, “Jennifer, since you’re the one who caused all this, shouldn’t you be the one to take responsibility and rent Sarah a place?”
The other sycophant nodded in agreement. “Exactly. You should take care of Sarah, not pass the buck to us.”
Sarah, too, turned her gaze on Jennifer, secretly agreeing with
their words.
Jennifer simply smiled, “Fine, I’ll take responsibility. I’ll take

Sarah back to Hargreaves Villa. Why bother renting a place? A thousand dollars can’t even cover Sarah’s food for a day.”
The two sycophants, still disgruntled, muttered, “We’re just regular folks, not rich like you.”
But Sarah’s expression shifted to one of hope.
Jennifer had just said she would take her back to Hargreaves Villa, which was the best option for Sarah right now.
She didn’t want to be thrown out of Hargreaves Villa for good.
Sarah didn’t want to miss this opportunity.
She wasn’t about to settle for living on the streets.
“Jennifer,” she said eagerly, grabbing her hand, “when are we going back to Hargreaves Villa? I’ll go with you.”
Jennifer flung Sarah’s hand off without a second thought. “Did you really believe me when I said that? I was just making conversation.”
