Chapter 378 Messing With Her
Jennifer looked at Sarah with a mocking smile.
Sarah, unable to believe it, blurted out, “You’re messing with
me?”
“Yes, I’m messing with you,” Jennifer replied with a smile, grabbing her bag.
“I’ll be heading back to Hargreaves Villa tonight, but I need to discuss the final assignment with everyone first.”
Sarah held back her anger. “Fine, I can wait.”

Jennifer suddenly spoke up, “Sarah, considering how long you’ve been absent, you should at least catch up with your group and share the parts you were supposed to handle. Otherwise, if your section is missing in the final submission, your group won’t be able to turn in an acceptable assignment.”
Her words hit Sarah like a cold wave.
She had completely forgotten about the group project.
It hadn’t even crossed her mind.
Looking around at her group members, Sarah said, “Of course, I’ll catch up with everyone and discuss the assignment.”
Jennifer raised an eyebrow in surprise. “You haven’t done any of it yet, have you?”

Jennifer smiled, her tone sweet but laced with a hint of sarcasm. “Well then, how about you submit what you’ve done so far? That way, the rest of them can continue with the project.”
Her group members nodded in unison. “Yeah, Sarah, if you could send us the data, it’d really help us get the next steps done. Our progress has been stalled for so long, and we’re running out of time.”
Sarah’s section was the data collection and analysis, a key part of the project, and she had always been the one responsible for it.
Sarah’s expression faltered. “I… didn’t bring it with me. I’ll bring it to class tomorrow.”
Her heart raced.
She hadn’t done any of the work.
The past few weeks had been filled with chaos, and she hadn’t found the time to even think about the project.
Moreover, the data collection was something Asher had always helped her with. She didn’t even know how to gather the data. herself.
But now, with things between her and Asher falling apart, she could no longer rely on him.
She was starting to panic. She’d have to buy some data from somewhere, but that would cost money.

Glancing at the small amount of money her classmates had gathered for her, Sarah grabbed the 1000 dollars from the table and said, “Thank you all for helping me out. Once I’m in a better place and can make up with my family, I’ll repay you all. Let’s have a meal together when things settle down.“–
Jennifer saw Sarah take the money and smirked inwardly. “Seems like you’ve really been backed into a corner, huh?”
Jennifer knew the data Sarah was talking about had come from Asher. ”
Now that she was at odds with him, there was no way she would be able to get any more. Jennifer was curious to see how Sarah would handle the situation from here on out.
Not saying anything more, Jennifer left with her group members and headed to the study room, leaving Sarah behind in the classroom.
As the sun began to set, Jennifer came out of the study room and saw Sarah sitting alone on a bench outside.
The two sycophants were sitting beside her, having bought her a burger.
“Figures,” Jennifer thought to herself. “They’ll always be loyal to Sarah, even if they’re nothing more than sycophants.”
Jennifer walked over and said with a smirk, “Sarah, didn’t you used to say that burgers were junk food, something only people at the bottom of the social ladder would eat? That people with money only eat fine dining?”

Sarah froze for a moment and then awkwardly replied, “What are you talking about? I never said that. I just didn’t eat much before because I was dieting.”
Sarah cursed Jennifer in her mind.
She had no money now, not even enough for food. But when someone bought her a burger, she certainly wasn’t going to turn it down.
And now, Jennifer–that bitch–was trying to corner her again.
Jennifer’s smile was sweet but full of malice. “Really?”
“Of course,” Sarah replied, looking to change the subject. “Are you heading back to Hargreaves Villa now? If so, I’ll go with you.”
Sarah didn’t even want the burger anymore.
Once they got to Hargreaves Villa, she could have the chef make her whatever she wanted–no need to eat such low–tier junk food.
Jennifer noticed Sarah tossing the burger on the ground.
“Are you really just going to throw it away?” Jennifer remarked, her voice feigning disappointment. “It was a kind gesture from them.”
The two sycophants‘ faces darkened as they looked at the discarded burger.
