Chapter 6 Sue Her
Felix glanced at Diana before turning his attention to Abigail, eager to see her reaction.
Abigail was momentarily taken aback, her old instincts urging her to stand up and explain.
However, she quickly reminded herself that she and Anthony were already separated. If she didn’t care about Anthony anymore, why should she worry about his mother?
Abigail’s expression hardened.
“Please mind your words, Auntie,” Abigail spoke calmly. “My divorce from your son is underway, so who I see is my private matter, not his or yours. Your interference violates my personal freedom. And about this gentleman – where’s your proof of any involvement? Without evidence, you’re slandering both our reputations, and we have grounds to take legal action.”
Diana was taken aback by Abigail’s words, her face souring as she processed them.
“What did you just call me?” she demanded, slamming the table again. “You’ve got some nerve! You want to sue me? I must have been too soft on you!”
Still fuming, Diana noticed the coffee cup on the table. In a fit of anger, she picked it up, ready to throw it at Abigail.

Abigail instinctively closed her eyes, bracing for the splash, but the coffee never came.
Diana’s hand was suspended in mid–air, caught by Felix, who had quickly intervened.
“What are you doing? Let go of me! She’s my daughter in law, this is a family issue!”
Diana tried to yank her hand back, but Felix’s grip was firm.
“Ma’am, I have no right to interfere in your family matters, but let me kindly remind you: as long as the coffee stays in the cup, it’s just verbal assault. Once you throw it, it becomes physical assault, and this young lady has the right to press charges.”
Felix glanced at Abigail, who was starting to regain her
composure.
“Hey, if she assaults you, will you press charges?” he asked.
Diana couldn’t help but let out a smug laugh. “Press charges against me? Does she dare? She’s head over heels for my son, can’t live without him. If she dares to cross me, my son will definitely leave her!”
People began to crowd around, drawn by the scene.
Whispers circled through the onlookers as they stared at Abigail. with judgmental eyes.

Hearing their murmurs and seeing Diana’s satisfied smirk, Abigail could only laugh at herself.
She had made herself into this pathetic situation, all for a man.
Felix pressed on, “Abigail, I’m asking you, yes or no?”
Diana’s smile was like a taunt, piercing Abigail’s eyes.
“Yes,” Abigail replied, her voice firm.
The murmurs in the crowd grew louder, mixed with gasps.
A hint of satisfaction appeared on Felix’s face as he forcefully pushed Diana’s hand away.
Diana stumbled but caught herself, then exploded with rage.
“How dare you! Press charges against me? Everyone, look at this!” she shouted. “My own daughter–in–law sneaks around. with another man while her son lies injured. And now she treats me like this! She’s unfit to be a wife or mother!”
The crowd’s whispers grew louder around them.
“She’s abandoning her own child? What kind of mother is she?”
“Caught cheating by her mother–in–law – how shameful!”
“Just as I thought – perfect on the outside, corrupt within.”
Each cruel word pierced through Abigail’s ears.

Why keep enduring? She’d already accepted divorce so why lett the Robinsons continue their bullying and lies?
She turned to face Diana, her face eerily composed, her eyes empty and cold.
Diana stared back, unflinching.
From the side, Felix watched with an amused smile, almost eager for what would come next.
“Only filthy minds see dirt everywhere,” Abigail said. “If having lunch with a man is scandalous, what about your precious son spending nights out with other women?”
The crowd fell silent, hanging on every word of this unexpected
turn.
“What did you just say?” Diana’s confident facade cracked, guilt seeping through. “Don’t you dare make false accusations about my son!”
“You-” Diana started, but Abigail cut her off.
“You encouraged your son to chase other women right in your house. You played matchmaker to destroy my marriage. You stole my son and raised him with that woman, teaching him to hate his own mother. Tell me, am I making any of this up?”

Diana stared at this new Abigail in disbelief. Gone was the meek woman who quietly endured everything, who never questioned. Diana’s words.
This docile rabbit had suddenly found her teeth, daring tot challenge her in public.
The crowd’s whispers grew louder, shifting in Abigail’s favor.
tol
“She did that to her own son? What kind of mother–in–law is
she?”
“They say breaking up a marriage is worse than destroying a temple. This woman’s really stirring up trouble.”
“If my mother–in–law pulled this, I’d have left ages ago!”
“Marriage is hard enough for women without a mother–in–law making it worse. Doesn’t she have any shame?”
Realizing she was in the wrong, Diana bit her lip but still refused to back down.
“Stop changing the subject. Divorce is one thing, but what about Marcus? His wound opened today and you didn’t care. What kind of mother are you?”
Abigail’s smile was bitter and cold. “You’re right – I’m not fit to be his mother. And a child who’d leave me in a fire to save another woman isn’t fit to be my son.”
