Chapter 18 A Child Without a Mother
Marcus was the only one sitting on the sofa, with a sullen face, quietly waiting for Abigail.
She was never late, but today, even though the party was about to begin, she failed to show up.
Several children came over excitedly.
“Marcus, why hasn’t your mother arrived yet? Is she not coming?”
“I heard that your mother didn’t come when you were injured last time. Does abandon you?”
Children always spoke recklessly. Their words were blunt.
Marcus, already in a bad mood, frowned.
“It’s impossible. She will definitely come. I told her to make desserts for you.”
Those children beamed with joy.
“Your mother makes really good desserts. Can we have some today?”
Chapter 18 A Child Without a Mother Marcus replied, “Of course,”
“That’s great. Marcus, you are so lucky to be able to eat such delicious desserts every day.”

After all, Marcus was just a child. The praise pleased him and made him smile.
Time passed little by little. The scene had been arranged, and the other children were already in their assigned seats with their mothers.
But Abigail still didn’t come.
Seeing Marcus sitting alone on the sofa, the teacher stepped over and squatted down patiently.
“Marcus, where is your mother?”
Marcus, who had a cold face, bore a strong resemblance to Anthony.
“She should have forgotten. I’ll give her a call.”
Marcus jumped off the sofa, went to the door, and called Abigail.
At that moment, she had just come out of the Taylor Villa and answered the phone while walking on the street.
“Why haven’t you come yet? You can’t even handle such a small thing perfectly. Have you forgotten what day it is today?”

As Abigail listened to Marcus‘ arrogant questioning on the phone, her fingers on the phone began to pale.
“Marcus, have you forgotten what I said before?”
Marcus got angry.

“Hey! Are you still trying to make a fuss? Don’t throw a tantrum. on any occasion. Today’s parent–child party is very important to me. Come here quickly!”
His domineering tone was the same as Anthony’s.
Once upon a time, during her pregnancy with Marcus, Abigail had imagined a loving scene between mother and son.
But to her disappointment, he was as ungrateful as Anthony.
“Marcus, I’m not your mother anymore. Do you remember what you said? You want Michelle to be your mother. Thus, you should ask her to attend the parent–child party instead of me.”
“You!”
Marcus‘ face blushed with anger.
He had never seen Abigail be so resolute.
In a fit of exasperation, Marcus growled, “Okay! I don’t want you to be my mother anymore! Michelle will replace you from now on. Don’t regret it!”
Chapter 18 A Child Without a Mother He hung up, his hands shaking.
Abigail heard the beeping sound and couldn’t help but laugh. sarcastically.

How could she regret it? However, if her life had been wasted on
the father and son, she would have regretted it to the fullest.
Marcus watched the other children having fun with their mothers.
Tears welled up in his eyes.
He had always been the center of attention at previous parent–child parties.
Yet, Marcus became an unwanted child.
His pride wouldn’t allow it.
So he immediately called Michelle.
Wasn’t it just a matter of getting another mother? Without Abigail, he could still find someone else.
At the sight of the incoming call, Michelle was at work. She took some time out to go out and answer it.
“Marcus, what’s wrong?”
“Michelle, there is a parent–child party at the kindergarten today. Can you come and accompany me?”

Michelle checked the time. “Marcus, why isn’t your mother with
you?”
“She’s still in a temper and refuses to accompany me. She’s not sensible at all. I don’t want her anymore!”
Michelle immediately understood what was going on.
To her surprise, Abigail still didn’t compromise after so long.
In that case, of course, Michelle had to add fuel to the fire.
Only by making Marcus hate Abigail more and more could she have a chance.
Michelle pretended to hesitate.
“Marcus, I am busy with work today and can’t spare the time. Your mother has already promised you, so she will definitely go. Wait for her patiently.”
Then, she hung up, leaving Marcus no time to say what he wanted.
He thought, “It’s all Abigail’s fault! She didn’t keep her word. She promised me to come.”
Marcus quickly made a call to Anthony, but it was rejected because he was in a meeting at that moment.
He tried to contact Diana.

“My dear, I am playing poker and not available. Ask Abigail to
accompany you. She’s idle anyway!”
Marcus made a few calls, but no one came.
He sat on the steps at the door, crying.
The teacher came out.
“Marcus, are your family too busy to come over?”
Marcus nodded. Despite having expressly agreed to be responsible for the dessert, he could no longer provide it.
The teacher patted him on the shoulder.
“It doesn’t matter. I will play games with you, okay?”
The teacher led Marcus into the classroom.
At the sight of him, those children who had just talked to him surrounded him again.
“Marcus, where is your mother?”
“Where is the dessert?”
For the first time, Marcus felt embarrassed in front of the children, and his face flushed.
“Is your mother really not coming? Does she abandon you?”
Chapter 18 A Child Without a Mother
Their questions infuriated Marcus, who was already in a foul mood.
“You’re talking nonsense! How could she abandon me?”
“Then why didn’t she come? Everyone’s mother is here.”
“She…” Marcus gritted his teeth and clenched his fists.
The teacher hurriedly separated the children.

“Stop talking nonsense and go back to your mothers. The party will start soon.”
Those children then returned to their seats..
Marcus sat on the sofa with the teacher with a dark face.
When he reached for the fruit on the table, a child next to him snatched it away.
“This is the fruit my mother brought. All the other mothers prepared something, but your mother didn’t. Moreover, she didn’t come. So you can’t eat what we brought!”
The child’s mother quickly snatched the fruit
away.
“Don’t be so rude!”
The child then quieted down, pouted, and took another seat.

“I don’t want to sit with a kid without a mother.”
Marcus noticed it.
‘The child’s mother handed him the fruit.
“Here you are. It’s okay.”
Marcus sensed her pity.
In the past, he had always been proud and envied.
Now, he was pitied and needed permission to have a fruit.
