He didn’t believe that Abigail could remain calm when Marcus called someone else mom.
Michelle tugged at Anthony’s sleeve. “Isn’t this a bit much? Abigail is still here.”
“There’s nothing wrong with it. She chose this way. Since Marcus wants you to be his mom, just go along with it.”
With Anthony’s words, Michelle finally smiled, holding Marcus and looking at the other children.
“I’m Marcus‘ new mom. Don’t listen to what others say, kids. Marcus still has a mom, right?”
Seeing Marcus looking proud again, the other children rolled their eyes and returned to their parents.
Abigail, who overheard everything, understood perfectly well what kind of trick they were trying to pull.
If this had happened before, she would have felt hurt and unable to accept it.
But now, she truly didn’t care.

Seeing that Abigail didn’t react, Anthony and Marcus also had their pride, so they pretended not to care.
The next event soon began. It was a relay race, where the dads
had to carry their kids and race to see who was faster.
The kids all lined up with their respective fathers..
Marcus, in particular, flicked his nose arrogantly at Grace.
Grace, watching everyone else enjoying themselves, felt a little down and sat with her head lowered in the rest area.
Abigail noticed her and felt uneasy.
“How about I join you and help you with the race?”
She could tell that Grace loved participating in these activities. just to have fun with the other kids. It wasn’t about winning for her.
Though she might not be as fast or strong as the dads, Abigail still had enough energy to accompany Grace for a while.
Grace’s face immediately lit up with a smile.
“Really?”
“Of course.”
Abigail ruffled her little head and led Grace to the starting line.

Anthony and Marcus, standing off to the side, looked at Abigail with mocking eyes.
“Why go through all this trouble for someone else’s kid, Abigail? Is it really worth it?”
Abigail completely ignored Anthony’s words, focusing entirely on preparing to hold Grace securely so she wouldn’t fall.
Marcus, seeing that all the attention he used to receive was now focused on Grace, felt uncomfortable.
He tilted his head up and began to mock.
“Don’t tell me you don’t have a dad,” he sneered.
Grace, hearing this, defended herself, “I do have a dad! He’s just very busy.”
“Really?” Marcus sneered coldly, “So busy? I’ve never seen your dad picking you up. For parent meetings, it’s always your assistant. Could it be that you don’t have parents?”
Abigail was taken aback by the harsh words coming from her
own son.
But when she glanced at Anthony, he appeared to have not heard anything and was casually looking away.
Abigail’s initial anger immediately cooled.

Anthony was that kind of person. He was sharp–tongued, and Marcus, being his son, was just following his example.

Grace, who was hurt by the words, looked as though she might cry, her eyes turning red.
Just as Abigail was about to squat down and comfort her, a familiar voice came from behind.
“Who said she doesn’t have a dad?”
Turning towards the voice, Abigail saw Felix walking over in casual sportswear.
The moment she spotted him, she froze for a moment while Anthony’s face immediately darkened.
The other children, upon seeing Felix, looked enviously at Grace.
“Wow, Grace, is that your dad? I always thought Marcus‘ dad was the best–looking, but yours is even better!”
“Grace, your dad is so handsome!”
Marcus heard the envious comments, and his face turned bright red with embarrassment.
Felix walked up to Abigail, stepping in front of her.
“This is a race where dads are supposed to carry their kids. What’s the point of showing off?”

Abigail felt a bit confused. Was he blaming her?
It was his idea for her to accompany Grace.

“Alright, I’ll take over. You can rest for a while and cheer for us.”
Abigail nodded. “Weren’t you just in a meeting with the client?”
“I finished. I haven’t seen Grace in a while, so I came by to visit.”
It was clear from the way Grace clung to him, calling him dad, that Felix was a regular presence in her life. The little girl was very fond of him.
Abigail felt relieved and returned to the rest area to sit down.
Felix took Grace to the starting line and prepared for the race, while Anthony, standing at the edge of the track, seemed to have reignited his competitive spirit.
He was determined to see what kind of person this man, whom Abigail had chosen, really was.
Abigail sat down, taking a few sips of water, and the race started. The dads began running, carrying their kids on the track.
Abigail cheered for Felix from above, shouting encouragement.
Michelle, watching Abigail’s reactions from the side, approached her.
Abigail ignored her, continuing to cheer.
“Abigail, is that your new man? And that little girl, is she his daughter?”
Abigail didn’t respond, but Michelle wasn’t deterred.
She continued, “Neglecting your own child to be a stepmother for someone else’s kid… You are that cheap?”
Seeing that Abigail was ignoring her, Michelle became more agitated.
“If you want a divorce, just get it over with. Don’t drag it out. I’ll take good care of Marcus from now on.”
She expected at least a response from Abigail, but Abigail didn’t
even look at her.
She just kept her eyes on the race, happily shouting
encouragements.
At the start, Anthony and Felix’s speeds were about the same, but after the first turn, Anthony began to lose energy.
He sat in the office all day and had no physical strength.
Felix, however, seemed to gain more momentum after the turn, speeding up as though he were energized.
As the distance between them grew, Marcus anxiously patted Anthony’s shoulder.

tint Anthony was too exhausted to keep up, and the gap between them only grow wider.
Until the very end, he was even overtaken by the third–place
In the end, Felix eroned the finish line first, while Anthony came in third, even losing second place.
Marcus, feeling humiliated, sulked and pouted all the way back to the rest area after the race.
Anthony, out of breath but trying to save face, took a few deep breaths and regained his composure.
Felix and Grace, who had easily won, didn’t even seem tired.
They happily hopped toward Abigail, holding their prize.
The prize was a beautiful little blanket. Grace draped it over Abigail’s shoulders.
“Ms. Taylor, I won with Felix. This is for you.”
