Chapter 60 You’ve Proven to Be Useless
“Marcus is getting older, and my mom isn’t getting any younger. She can’t keep taking care of him forever. I plan to bring Marcus back to live with us next year,” Anthony declared, his tone resolute.
Abigail remained silent, her expression unreadable.
Frustrated by her lack of response, Anthony’s irritation began to bubble over
“Are you even listening to me?”
Still, Abigail said nothing, quickly finishing her last bite of food before setting down her fork and rising.
“I’m tired. I’m going to rest.”
Without another word, she ignored both Anthony and Marcus as she headed upstairs.
Anthony slammed his fork onto the table in anger.
Marcus, sensing the tension, shifted uncomfortably in his seat. “Dad, I want to go to Grandma’s tonight.”
Anthony’s face hardened. “No way. You’re staying here for the next couple of days.”
He couldn’t believe Abigail wouldn’t soften at the sight of their
son.
Despite Marcus‘ reluctance, he knew he couldn’t win against his father’s authority, so he sulked in silence, head down.
Anthony glared at the empty seat where Abigail had just been, clenching his fists in frustration.
After a long moment, he took a deep breath, trying to calm himself.
“Fine, a little anger is normal. After all, Abigail is back, and it is only a matter of time before she cools off.”
With that thought, he returned to his meal, determined to ride
out the storm.
Later that evening, when Anthony went upstairs to unwind, he was surprised to find Abigail had chosen to sleep in the guest room instead of their bedroom.
This behavior irked him.
“She’s back home, so why the pretense of distance? What’s the point of sulking like this?”
He had hoped for a chance to reconnect, to bridge the gap between them, but seeing her act this way sapped his enthusiasm.
With a sigh, Anthony retreated to their bedroom alone.

Meanwhile, on the other side of town, Michelle had just wrapped up her day at work and returned home, only to find Diana coming back from a card game.

Noticing that Marcus wasn’t with her, she approached curiously. “Why are you home so late? Where’s Marcus?”
Diana waved her hand dismissively. “Oh, his dad picked him. up.”
Anthony, being alone, wouldn’t have time to take care of the child.
So, Michelle felt a knot tighten in her stomach at the mention of this.
The next morning, she arrived at Anthony’s villa, her mind racing with worry.
By then, Anthony had already left for work, and Marcus had been dropped off at school by the driver.
When the door swung open and she saw Abigail standing there, her heart dropped.
“You! What are you doing here?”
Abigail scoffed. “We’re not divorced yet, and I’m in my own home. What’s so surprising about that?”
Michelle’s frustration bubbled over. “I’m asking you why you’re
Chapter 60 You’ve Proven to Be Useless here!”

She thought, “Didn’t she say she moved out? Didn’t she file for divorce? How could she possibly come back?
So, Anthony took Marcus last night to have a family dinner?
They spent the night together?”
Abigail found a twisted sense of satisfaction in Michelle’s flustered state.
She crossed her arms, leaning against the doorframe with a smirk.
“What gives you the right to question me? I’m in my own house. Shouldn’t you be the one feeling out of place? I’ve barely been gone a few days, and now you think you can just waltz in here and take over?”
“Y–You!” Michelle’s face flushed with anger, her eyes wide and fists clenched.
The more agitated Michelle became, the more amused Abigail felt.
“Just remember your place. I’ve given you chances, but you’ve proven to be useless. After all the days I’ve been gone, you still couldn’t move in here. It seems I overestimated you when I thought you could be a threat to me and Anthony. Turns out, to him, you’re nothing but a joke,” Abigail said, her tone dripping with disdain.

“What did you just say?” Michelle’s voice quivered with barely contained rage, her fists shaking at her sides.
Abigail scoffed and said, “I don’t repeat myself. You know exactly what I mean.”
“You!” Michelle’s finger jabbed in Abigail’s direction, her face flushing with anger.
Without hesitation, Abigail swatted Michelle’s hand away.
“Don’t point that finger at me in my own home, Michelle. Get it straight–this is my territory.”
With that, Abigail slammed the door in Michelle’s face, cutting her off completely.
In an instant, the carefully crafted plans Michelle had been nurturing crumbled. Panic and fury surged within her.
Having a physical relationship with Anthony was her ace up the sleeve, but now, even after she used that trump card, Abigail had come back and smashed her plans.
Without a moment to lose, she rushed out of the villa and called Anthony.
At that moment, he was in a meeting, and when he saw her name flash on his phone, he ignored it, hanging up without a second thought.

Michelle tried calling again, but when he didn’t answer, her anxiety escalated. She decided to drive straight to his office.
Meanwhile, Lucy had overheard the confrontation between Abigail and Michelle.
Carrying a tray of fruit, she approached Abigail with a grin. “Mrs. Robinson, what you just said was spot on. That shameless. little bitch needed to hear it. Otherwise, she wouldn’t know her place!”
Abigail chuckled, taking a bite of an apple as she settled onto the sofa. “It’s pretty sweet.”
Over the years, Lucy had come to understand Abigail’s personality well.
She didn’t put on airs as a wealthy lady; instead, she treated Lucy like a friend.
Lucy genuinely liked Abigail and felt a deep sympathy for her.
Seeing the slight sadness on Lucy’s face, Abigail asked, “What’s wrong, Lucy?”
With a sigh, Lucy replied, “I really care about you. On the one hand, I’m glad you’re back; on the other, I hate seeing you put up with this nonsense.
Abigail recognized Lucy’s sincere concern and sighed in return.
“I appreciate that, Lucy. But my return isn’t about reconciling

Lucy’s eyes widened in surprise. “Then what were you doing just
now?”
Abigail set the apple down. “I came back to gather evidence of Anthony and Michelle’s affair. Only then can the court recognize Anthony as the one at fault in our marriage, which will help me secure my rightful share of the assets during the divorce.”
Lucy’s eyes lit up with understanding. “Oh, I see! You know that once you’re back, Mr. Robinson will definitely bring Mr. Marcus Robinson home to try to win you back.
“That means that bitch will realize you’re here. When she comes realize you’re here. When she comes storming in, you’ll have already said those things to provoke her, pushing her to go after Mr. Robinson.”
Abigail nodded. “Exactly.”
A smile spread across Lucy’s face. “Isn’t this great? I knew it! You’re so decisive about this divorce, yet here you are back again.”
Abigail sighed again, “I know Michelle and Anthony well. Michelle has always played the innocent card while keeping Anthony on the hook. But now, after everything, she’ll be scared of me reconciling with him. That fear will drive her to cling to him desperately. If I can catch them together, I’ll finally be free.”
Lucy nodded vigorously. “Is there anything I can do to help?”
