After seeing Mark leave, I went to the bedroom
to get my suitcase.
Alex followed me.
He looked at the suitcase by the bed. He
blinked and then he said, “Mom, are you going
on a business trip?”
Both Mark and I would go on business trips for
work.
We had a nanny for Alex.
And when he saw me with the suitcase, he
thought that I was going on a trip again.
I didn’t explain. I just nodded.

Alex thought about something, then he ran off.
I didn’t care. I put away the papers and looked
around the room to make sure that I didn’t forget anything, I was ready to leave.
When I walked to the living room, I heard Alex
on the phone in the study room.
“Dad, mom is going on a business trip. You
don’t have to come home too early.”
“Yeah… I know, the nanny will take care of me.”
“Oh yeah, Ms. Meng got me a toy. Please thank her for me. I love it.”
