Chapter 9
As Caleb held Evelyn in his arms, her head resting on his shoulder, he couldn’t help but breathe in her sweet scent. He felt a sense of protectiveness towards her as he carried her out of the club and towards his car. She was so vulnerable in that moment, and he felt a need to take care of her. It was a feeling he hadn’t experienced before, and it left him feeling a bit disoriented.
He couldn’t take his eyes off her, from the moment he left the dance floor. His heart was racing, and he couldn’t stop thinking about her. He felt like a stalker, watching her through the backdoor, but he couldn’t help himself.
As he watched her take shot after shot of liquor, Caleb’s protective instincts kicked in. He knew she wasn’t the type to drink excessively, and the amount she was consuming was going to affect her. He wanted to walk over and take the bottle away from her, but he held back, unsure of how she would react.
He had barely ended his thought when he heard her screamed right in the bar. His dear and Indecision disappeared, replaced by a sense of urgency. He knew he had to act and in that moment he decided to come out from his hiding, and pull the bull by it’s horn.
Placing her gently in the car, he started the car as he drove off, his destination, Ebony’sville.
Aurelia’s blood boiled as she watched Caleb approach Evelyn, his eyes full of concern. She clenched her fists, her nails digging into her palms, as she struggled to control her rage. She was fuming with jealousy.
Since the moment they left the dance floor, Caleb had barely spoken a word to her, despite her efforts to get his attention. No matter how hard she tried to make him see that she was there for him, he only warned her to stay away, and then walked off without a word. She felt abandoned Her heart ached as she watched him left their and disappear into the crowd to God knows where.
The tempting urge to follow him was strong, but Aurelia knew it would only lead to more heartbreak. She had waited for him five years of her life, five years! and it was clear that he had started harboring feelings for Evelyn, even though they were
divorced.
Her chest pound furiously, as she curled her fist into a brawl, She knew deserved better than to be treated like an afterthought.
Watching him pop out of the blue as he hurried to help the drunken Evelyn made her heart beat furiously. She doubt she could any longer control the hurt and anger that were spilling over.
Grabbing her phone, she placed a call through to Caleb. First ring. Second ring. Third! No response and then she resolved to send him a voicemail asking him to come and pick her accompanied by series of messages which she waited for hours and yet there was no response.
“You know I was waiting for you… So, you came?” Evelyn stuttered holding Caleb’s by his shirt, the liquor was really having an effect on her, she could barely tell from her left and right.
Caleb short of words, only stared at her. He didn’t even know what to say. He missed her!
“Answer me!” Dragging his ear, she demanded laughing at his expression.
Oh damn! She’s worse when drunk. He hadn’t seen her in this state before, never!
His major concern was to get her out of the car and take her inside, she had been so quiet during the drive and had only stirred when they had gotten to Ebony’sville.
“Wait!” Evelyn muttered as he made to carry her.
One moment he was startled to why he had asked her to wait, the next, he felt liquid pouring on his body and spilling over to his Bugatti Divo seats.
His eyes widened as he looked up at her, his suits was soaked and his car also by her vomit.
Staring at her, she held this innocent look as she kept calm, and rested her head back on the chair, like she had done nothing wrong.
With a sigh, he took it his coat, and then his shirt before carrying her over his shoulder as he headed inside to the mansion.

As usual his Butler was standing at the door waiting for him.
“Order one of the servants to go take care of my care and move my things in, but first I need you to fetch Megan for me” Caleb ordered walking to his room. It was quite obvious that the butler was surprised at the sight of his boss carrying his Ex–wife on his shoulder, even the maids as he walked was whispering at the sight.
Getting to the master bedroom, Caleb aced her gently on the bed and then sigh out relivedly.
But still, he had to bathe her and wash of the puke off her.
Gently, he started unclothing her. Taking off her clothes was something he’d do under a minute, but this time, since she was on a drunken state he had to do it gently.
A soft knock on the door, didn’t stop him from undressing as he only muttered for the person to come in. He knew it’s be no one else other than Megan
“You called for me, Sir!” Megan bowed, closing the door behind her as she tried to announce her presence. Sighting a sleepy Evelyn on the bed, she felt her heart leaked out for joy. She’d had heard the rumors from the maids that their boss’s wife was back, but she had wanted to confirm her doubt first.
“Yes, I need you to prepare a chicken noodle soup, just as she like it’s” Caleb ordered referring to Evelyn.
Fifteen minutes later, Caleb was done with bathing her and he had her dressed in a big shirt of his.
Meghan had never seen her boss this way, since she’s had been working for them. He looks so worried, so disoriented and scared. She could tell.
“Is she sick?” With concern written on her voice, Megan dared to asked.
“No, she’ll be fine” Precise, his response came. Megan knew her boss was not going to spare any pep–talk. So, she reserved any further questions until Evelyn would be fine.
With a bow, she placed the bowl of chicken noodle soup and then headed outside.
Spoon feeding Evelyn didn’t talk up to ten minutes, which after Caleb placed her to sleep as he sat close to their bedside and watch her sleeps.
His eyes took in her sleepy features, staring from her nose, down to her lips, his eyes lingered for minutes there as he recounted the soft feel of her lips on his. He missed her, heaven knows he really do missed her.
Placing a soft kiss on her fore head, he stood up to turn off the light and then joined her in bed, wrapping his hands around heras he cuddled her close to his chest. She was just so perfect, so perfect for him. He hoped they could stay that way for long. with this thought his eyes closed drifting as he slept soundly.
“Please, don’t leave. I love you, Caleb please…” The soft whisper woke Caleb from his sleep.
Placing his hands on Evelyn, he patted her back gently. It was a nightmare, as she was still fast asleep.
“It’s okay, I’ve got you,” Caleb whispered, his thumb gently stroking her cheek. He was so close to her, he could feel her breath on his face. It was all he could do to resist the urge to kiss her. He knew it would be wrong, but the temptation was strong. Instead, he held her close, letting her sob into his chest.
“I’m here. I’m sorry I’ve left you in the past but this time I won’t leave” he whispered kissing the top of her head.
However, Evelyn went to soft on him, wrapping her hand around him as she gave him her lips instead.
One quick taste wouldn’t hurt, he thought as his lips brushed her, gently and soft.

He meant to pull away, to end the kiss before it went too far. But then her lips parted, and her breath mingled with his, and he was lost. He knew he should stop, but he couldn’t bring himself to do it. The taste of her was intoxicating, and he wanted more. His hand found the back of her head, and he deepened the kiss, losing himself in the moment.
Her hands went for his chest, running her hands through his abs. “I want you Caleb, please take me” Her voice came as a whisper, sending the self control he had choose to retain to the mud. Her body was like a drug to his system, so who was he to reject his medicine when she was all he needed to heal?
His lips claimed her fiercely, his hands undoing her shirt button. Turning her over, he made her lay on her hand as he slid inside of her from behind.
“Gawd!” Evelyn moaned, his full length entering inside of her. Damn! She had missed him so damn much.
His stokes was slow and sensual, sending shivers running down Evelyn’s spine.
With each stroke he made he took her to attain the same heights with her….
Slow and gentle it was, but Evelyn could tell that it had a lot of emotions in it. It was unusual of Caleb, he’d prefer rough and fast, but this time, the case was reverse.
