Chapter 9
The old witch had some great stamina. She
ranted for an hour before realizing nobody
was home. She looked like she was about to
bite through her teeth.
She came back three days in a row, but
nobody was ever home.
My family wasn’t wealthy. We couldn’t afford
a house in the city, so we lived in an old
apartment building.
The building had a mix of different people. My
parents had told me that a new neighbor had

moved in last week, but I hadn’t seen them
yet.
The old witch had though.
She was in front of my door yelling again
when she heard the door next to my house
open with a creak, and a dark shadow lunged
toward her.
The old hag almost had a heart attack.
A large dog, the size of a person when
standing, had her pinned down. Its mouth was
open, showing off two rows of sharp teeth.
Stinky drool dripped down her face. The dog
was staring at her like it would rip her to

shreds.
She didn’t even dare to breathe.
“Big Black, come back!”
A bald man called the dog back. He then glared at the old witch lying on the floor and warned: “If you come back here bothering me again, I’ll let Big Black chew your mouth up!”
The large dog barked in agreement.
The old witch scrambled away in terror. She
never came back to my door, terrified of
being eaten by that dog.

I ignored what was going on with Jess’s
family and continued doing my job.
Ashley was getting better day by day. To take
better care of her, I started self–studying
psychology and nutrition.
Evelyn supported me. She believed the more
professional I became, the better it would be
for Ashley’s recovery.
She paid for the best training classes, and I
went to school for half the week.
I was so touched that I almost cried.
I would work for this woman for the rest of
く
my life!
