- 12.
At the hospital, Dad tried to grab me.
But he was wrong.
The guy from upstairs was in front.
He shoved Dad back, and he fell on the floor.
“Ow! That hurts!”
He held his leg, crying.
“Call a doctor.”
We didn’t move, but Annabelle and Cindy got
worried.
Cindy started yelling at me.
“What kind of daughter are you? Your dad
fell, help him!”
I looked at her.
“You’re a good daughter.
Dad is injured because of you.”
She stuttered, and Annabelle started to
speak.
But the guy from upstairs stopped her.
“You, mistress, shut up.
Here’s my bill. I want a million, how are you
く
going to pay?”
The woman from the other apartment jumped
- in.
“I hate mistresses. Why ruin a family?
There are plenty of men, why pick a married
one?
You deserve this. The wife doesn’t want him,
now you can have him. No job, bad leg, he’s
all yours.”
Annabelle was weak.
She couldn’t say anything.
Cindy yelled, “She’s not the mistress! That
woman is!”
Everyone stared.
“Mom and Dad love each other.
She was like it wasn’t said loud enough.
The guy next to me said it loud for her.
The love is always the one being cut off!”
The guy from upstairs said something.
“You’re shameless.
Your family owes us money! Pay up!
Pay!”
I stepped forward. “And pay us.”
く
The debts were about three million.
Annabelle tried to sit up, but hit her wound
and cried.
Dad yelled at me, “Don’t get involved! We
don’t want money!”
“We?”
Mom corrected him. “That’s us, not you.”
Mom put the divorce papers on the table.
“I’m divorcing you. You cheated, you get
nothing.
The house is mine. I want her to pay.”
く
The mistress was stunned.
Especially when she heard about the debts.
She passed out.
I don’t know if it was real.
