Chapter 9
“So, you came back to find your mother’s murderer?” I asked. He nodded
in agreement.
“And your face…?”
“It was made up,” he replied, “To appear pitiful and harmless in front of my
enemy.

“And your relationship with your father? He seemed quite rude to you. Did you tell him how your mother died? you blame him for her death, don’t you?” I bit my lips, realising that I might have said more than it was needed.
He didn’t reply for a while. I immediately added, “If you don’t feel right to talk about it. Then, ignore it. Let’s just assume I didn’t ask anything.”
“My bond with my father is not like it seems,” he suddenly said, “But, I do
blame him for everything. I don’t think we

would ever be on the same page.”
I noticed that this time he mentioned Mr. Daniel as his father and not just addressed him formally. After completing his sentence he added, “You are soon to be my wife. You have every right to ask me questions. To be honest, it’s the first time that I have opened up with someone. I liked that.”
“I liked that too, James.” I replied honestly, “You know you can share
anything with me when you need someone. I will always be there for you.

He then dropped me home. While opening the door of the car like a gentleman, he called my name, “Claire…”
“Yes,” I said after coming out of the car.
“Let’s get married tomorrow,” he said, “We will get our marriage certificate from the court and that’s it. Let’s keep it simple.”

I was speechless, a bit shocked by his sudden proposal. I misinterpreted my silence and immediately added, trying to cover up, “I’m really sorry for being this blunt. I know you must have some thoughts about weddings like all the girls and I just asked you to keep it casual. Forget what I said just now. Let’s do it your way.
“No,” I blurted out, “I was just
surprised. In fact, I liked your idea. I also don’t like crowds. It’s our private moment. Let’s keep it simple.”
The next day we got our marriage certificate from the court and I officially became James Parker‘ s wife. After taking my parents‘ blessings, I moved out to live with James in his apartment. He didn’t live with his parents. He drove me to an apartment that was far city’s crowd and was situated on a hillside. He said he didn’t like the hustle bustle of the cities and loved to be surrounded by nature. I felt peace at his home. But, as soon as the sky turned

dark my heart began racing with anticipation and a little bit of fear. It was our wedding night, and I was nervous about what would happen next.
James had been so kind and gentle with me throughout our courtship, but I had always wondered if he was…normal. As I laid on the bed, Belle’s words began echoing in my mind, and I couldn’t shake the feeling that James might be defective in some way. But as James got into bed beside me, I felt a surge of excitement. He was so handsome and strong, and his eyes sparkled with desire as he looked at me.
“Hey,” he whispered,“Are you okay?”
I nodded. My face turned red in shyness as I said, “Yeah, I’m fine.“.
He leaned near my earlobes, whispering,
“I hope you don’t mind what I’m going to do,”
After saying this he placed his lips on mine, kissing me softly. As we kissed, I felt

a wave of passion wash over me. James’s lips were soft and gentle, but also firm and demanding. He knew exactly what he was doing and I felt myself melting into his
arms. Now I realized that James was not defective at all. In fact, he was amazing. I felt a little ashamed for doubting him, but James just smiled and pulled me closer, whispering in a playful voice,” Did I surprise you?”
I smiled coyly while saying, “You surely did!”
