Chapter 102
Hearing the name Whalescape, Moira immediately realized that Darlene was referring to Thomas Hunt, the president of Whalescape
“Did you orchestrate the kidnapping that day!” asked Moira.
She remembered she had been kidnapped in the afternoon after Darlene had gone to see her mother that morning. When Darlene was chased away, she had even threatened them.
Moira had no prior connection with Thomas, so she higured Darlene’s involvement seemed like the only possibility.
Darlene’s body stiffened under Moira’s furious and accusatory glare. But there wasn’t the slightest trace of guilt in her expression. “Your kidnapping has nothing to do with me,” she retorted.
After a pause, Darlene added with a disdainful look. “Maybe it’s your own lack of decency that brought you into trouble. You always throw yourself at men just like your shameless mother…
Before Darlene could finish, Moira grabbed the coffee on her desk and threw it at her
The cup still had half a serving of instant coffee, and it all splashed onto Darlene s dress, which was custom–made at a high cost. The fabric seas immediately stained, and some of the coffee even splattered onto Darlene’s face.
“Moira, are you crazy? Darlene fcreamed, looking at Moira in disbelief
“You’re the one who’s crazy Do you even realize that kidnapping and attempted rape are serious offenses? Moira shot back.
Even though Darlene denied her involvement, Moira was certain it was her doing. The memory of that night—the fear, the despair, the utter – helplessness–flashed in her mind, as well as the struggles and hardships she and her mother had endured for twenty years.
Rage coursed through Moira’s veins, and in that moment, she genuinely wanted to tear the woman to pieces.
Her whole body trembled with anger, but she forced herself to suppress the urge. Standing up, she pointed to the door and ordered, “Get out of my
Darlene tried to contain her fury as she took a tissue to wipe the coffee from her dress. “Mpira, even if you want to get back at me, you shouldn’t drag the company to this mess
“Mitchell Group was founded by your grandfather. He and your father poured their hearts and souls into it for decades to build it into what it is today. Do you think they’d still acknowledge you if they found out you were conspiring with Conrad to destroy it?”
Moira was still seething and had no patience to ponder who this “Conrad Darlene kept mentioning was
“I’m no longer part of the Michell family. Whatever happens to them has nothing to do with me,” Moira said coldly.
Darlene reproached, “You’re such an ungrateful bratt The Mitchell family raised you for five years. Your mother was taken in and supported by the old man. Without his help, do you think she could’ve attended a prestigious school, married Norman, or even had your
Seeing that her words weren’t getting through to Moira Darlene softened her tone and continued, “Think about it. What good will it do you to bankrupt the Mitchell family? Without a strong family to back you up, do you think the Morton family would let you be part of them?
“Conrad is the wealthiest man in Elloria. I’ve had the honor of meeting his mother ance, who’s an elegant and classy lady. She places great importance on family background. Without the Mitchell family as your support, she would never let her son marry you
Of course, Darlene didn’t actually want the Mitchell family to take Moira back. Her plan was to placate Moira for now and deal with her properly once Conrad lost interest in her
Moira gradually calmed down, but as Darlene kept mentioning Conrad’s name, she fell increasingly confused. She knew Conrad was the richest man in Eldoria, but she had never even met him. Suddenly, a man’s face flashed in her mind, and she found the thought utterly sbsurd.
