Chapter 111
Moira rambled incoherently for a while, and Virgil held her the entire time, letting her cry to her heart’s content
In the hallway, the handsome man and beautiful woman made for an eye–catching scene. Occasionally, passing medical staff couldn’t help but glance back at them.
After what seemed like an eternity, Moira finally finished venting her emotions. Only then did she realize she had been leaning against Virgil’s chest and she felt embarrassed. Her nose was filled with the cedarwood scent on him. It was cool and intoxicating
Seeing the wo
woman calming down, Virgil asked, “Do you want to rest for a bit?”
Moira extracted herself from his arms and wiped her eyes with her hand. When she looked up again, she had already regained her composure. “When did you get back?” she asked,
Virgil replied. “I just landed when you called me.”
Moira nodded lightly. “You should go home and sleep early. I stay here tonight”
With that, she picked up her bag and turned to head back to the ward.
Virgil grabbed her wrist from behind. Just as he was about to say something, a loud grumble echoed in the air. They both froze, then glanced down. The sound came from Moira’s stomach.
She had rushed to the hospital without eating anything
g and was starving.
Virgil released her wrist and said, “Go back inside. I’ll get you something to eat.”
Without waiting for a response, he lured and strode away.
Moira watched the man’s figure disappear into the distance and stood still for a long time. A comforting sense of being cared for washed over her, along with emotions she couldn’t quite name.
The next day, after Zea woke up, Moira accompanied her to get a medical examination. Luckily, it was only superficial injuries with no serious issues
Moira felt relieved and walked Zea back to her ward. “Zea, I’m going downstairs to get breakfast,”
Moira grabbed her bag and was about to leave but stopped as if remembering something. Turning back, the reminded Zea, “Don’t look at your phone yet Wait for news from the police, okay?”
Zea nodded softly.
Moira opened the door and went out, only to see Virgil standing outside. “Why are you
here
again?”
Virgil had stayed with her the entire night and left only at daybreak. Moira thought he would head to work, but he had changed into a fresh outfit and come straight back to the hospital.
Hearing the voice, Zea looked up and saw the tall and refined man at the door.
Virgil handed the breakfast he was carrying to Moira.
Moira thanked him but didn’t let him in. She shut the door behind her and walked to the bedside with the breakfast in hand
She placed the box on the bedside table and opened the lid. Inside were muffins, fruit–tarts, mini pizza, and oatmeal,
It was a hearty spread, beautifully arranged and appetizing.
Morra adjusted the small dining table attached to the hospital bed and served Zea a bowl of oatmeal first, leaving the rest of it for herself.
As Virgil headed toward the elevator, his phone rang. He glanced at the caller ID before answering.
The person on the other end spoke first. “Mr. Morton, the police have concluded their investigation. It seems Mrs. Williard hit the wrong person, and Ms. Rodriquez was injured by mistake.”
Virgil’s deep and calm eyes stared straight at the elevator doors as they closed again. He asked, “That’s it”

The caller replied; “There’s more We found out that Mrs. Williard actually knew about her husband’s affair. The mistress gave birth to a son, and her husband announced that he was going to leave all his assets to the boy, I doubt Mrs. Williard mistakenly targeted Ms. Rodriquez
“Is that woman still at the police station? Virgil miked.
The caller said, “She’s hired a lawyer to bail her out. Right now, she’s still causing a scene at the station.”
“Let her out. Virgil said coldly. “Keep an eye on her and see who she meets over the next few days.”
