Chapter 40
Virgil frowned at the wetness, then turned to look at Moira. When Virgil wasn’t smiling, his face always looked so stern and cold.
Moira hadn’t dared to speak to him much before; it was only in the past few days, as their relationship had warmed up, that she’d started to feel a hule bolder
But now, sensing his displeasure and the heavy tension in the air, she immediately panicked. “I… I’m sorry… I’ll grab some paper towels to wipe it
She quickly set the cup down on the coffee table without caring about how she felt. Pulling out a few tissues, she tried to wipe the water off hinc Bur before she could even touch him, he grabbed her wrist
Where
exactly did you plan to wipe?” he asked, his voice sharp.
Moira glanced down at his lower back, her face turning bright red. She thought, “Well, it’s not unusual for married couples to help each other out with things like this. But if he minds…
Without besim, she shoved the tissues into his hand. “You can do it yourself”
Virgil was left speechless. He narrowed his eyes, glaring at her with increasing annoyance.
Moira could feel the weight of his gaze on her, and it made her skin crawl. She quickly stammered, “Or… you could just take it off, and I’ll wash it for you.”
Virgil looked at her blankly. Til change in my room.”
Moira’s face flushed even deeper, and she nodded without saying anything more.
After walking a few steps. Virgil turned to see she hadn’t followed him yet. “What are you standing there for? Come with me?”
“Should I come in too?” Moira asked, her eyes wide with confusion
Virgil gave her a glance and smirked faintly. “Aren’t you the one who said you’d wash my clothes for me!”
“You can just bring them out”
“I’m not walking out with just the bottom half exposed. It would look ridiculous”
Moira was speechless. She thought his comment sounded a bit strange, but her mind was too scattered to think too deeply. She just followed him into the bedroom
When he stopped, she instinctively turned away
Virgil glanced back at her, then added with some effort, I’m going to change in the bathroom. Don’t peek, okay!
Moira initially felt relieved when she heard the first part of his sentence, but then, hearing the second part, she became both embarrassed and a attle annoyed. I’m not going to peek
She thought, “What does he take me furt Seeing how guarded he was, Moira decided to stop herself from imagining any more flirtatious scenarios.
Once she heard the bathroom door click shun, she let out a sigh of relief. With nothing else to do, she started inspecting the room.
She had been in here twice before but hadn’t really paid attention. Now that she looked around, she noticed the room’s minimalist black–and–white decor, which felt cold and impersonal. It was large, almost barren, as though no one actually lived here.
Bật then again, the thought maybe that was just how men liked their space. Given Virgil’s face and his personality, the style did seem to suit him
As she continued to look around, she suddenly heard has deep voice from the bathroom. “Moira, bring me some clothes. I don’t have anything to change into
“okay, hold on” She hurried to the wardrobe, grabbing a black outfit similar to the one he’d worn today. She made her way to the bathroom door
“Could you open the door just a linde? I’ll pass them to you.”
As soon as she spoke, the door cracked open slightly, just enough for her to slip the clothes through
She pushed the clothes through, waiting for him to take them before pulling her hand back. But before she could withdraw, a warm, firm hand gripped her west
Before she even had time to react, he yanked her into the bathroom with surprising force. The door slammed shut behind them with a heavy thud.
