Chapter 100 Justin Fit Her Type
6/7
Amy had to admit that Justin fit her type more than she realized. Before she could stop herself, Amy felt a wave of boldness, maybe the wine or the moment itself. She gave him a playful smile, her tone light but curious. “So, you don’t have a girlfriend?”
Justin paused for a second, clearly surprised. “No, I don’t. Why?”
Amy grinned, leaning in slightly, “Have you ever had one?”
“No, I haven’t. What’s up?”
Without thinking, she blurted out, her voice soft but direct, “Then, what do you think of me?”

Chapter 101 The Unclear Feelings
As soon as Amy finished speaking, Justin froze, stunned.
He blinked, staring at her, still trying to process what she had just said. After a long pause, he still hadn’t come to his senses.

Seeing his dazed expression, Amy asked again, “You’re listening, right? So, what do you think of me?”
Finally snapping back to reality, Justin said, “I don’t really understand what you mean. Are you asking if I’d like you to be my girlfriend?”
Amy raised an eyebrow. “What else could I mean?”
Hearing this, Justin jumped to his feet, wincing as he forgot to press on his injury.
He quickly waved his hands, taking tiny steps backward, looking more panicked than he’d ever been, almost stammering.
“No, no, no, Amy, this is no joke.”
Amy saw his reaction and her frustration flared.
She put her hands on her hips and confronted him, “What’s with this reaction? Do you think I’m not good enough for you? I was just asking casually, and look at how scared you got.”

Realizing that she was just asking casually, Justin finally relaxed and let out a sigh of relief.
“I didn’t mean it like that. It’s just… this is all so sudden, and besides…”
He hesitated, and Amy glared at him.
“And besides what? Spit it out!”
Justin collected his thoughts and said, “It’s just, I think you’re really great. You’re good–looking, cheerful, and loyal. Honestly, when we weren’t close, I was really curious about you.”
He paused, a slight smile tugging at his lips. “I mean, who would’ve thought that a girl who looks so delicate would be the one to get into fights with men every other day–and always come out on top?”
Amy couldn’t help but smile at his words.
Justin continued, “Then I found out that you were always standing up for your friends, and I was even more intrigued. Not many people are that loyal these days. And then when we got closer, I found out you’ve built a business empire, running bars and everything.”
Amy felt a slight pride as she heard his praise, but Justin wasn’t done.
“Honestly, if someone didn’t know you, they might assume a girl like you–independent and out there–wouldn’t be the kind of

person you’d want to bring home. People might think you have a chaotic personal life.”
Amy’s temper flared again, and she took a step forward, hands on her hips.
“Are you serious? Just because a girl likes to have fun doesn’t mean she’s all over the place! You’re just stereotyping.”
Justin quickly shook his head. “No, no, I’m saying, you’ve really taught me something–don’t judge a book by its cover. People who don’t know you will never understand what a good person you really are.”
Amy’s smile returned.
“Well, if I’m all that great, why’d you look so scared when I asked you?”
Justin looked a little embarrassed, his face turning pink after a
pause.
“I–I’ve never been in a relationship before. I don’t want to turn it into a game. You know what I mean?”
Amy shook her head, pretending to be confused. “Not really. Can you explain?”
Justin rubbed his forehead, where the wound was still tender.
“I think this society is really strange. Everyone’s in such a rush. I’ve seen a lot of cases, and it seems like people meet for dinner,

drink together at a bar, and after a couple of meetings, they just label it as a relationship. Some even worse–after a night of drinking, they end up sleeping with a complete stranger. Things like that happen all the time, but that’s not what I’m looking for.”
Amy listened intently, intrigued by his perspective.
“So, what are you looking for?”
“I believe that when you decide to be in a relationship with someone, you need to really understand their values and personality. But getting to know someone takes time–it’s not something that happens overnight. But once you do, the relationship feels more secure, and the chance of breaking up is smaller.”
Amy nodded in agreement.
“To me, relationships are serious. I think it’s because of my parents. They rushed into marriage, and it ruined their lives. It almost ruined mine too.”
Justin lowered his head slightly at her words.
The tall man, usually so imposing, now seemed vulnerable under the dim light.
Amy understood now. She realized her sudden, unprepared suggestion had caught him off guard.

Although she was a bit disappointed by the initial rejection, she

also had to admit that Justin’s views made a lot of sense.
The two of them stood in silence for a long while.

After a while, Amy seemed to make up her mind. She raised her head confidently and walked up to Justin.
The two of them locked eyes, and Amy smiled softly.
“I think you’re right. Good things take time, after all. We don’t have to rush. Justin, how about you take some time to get to know me better?”
Even Justin, with his lack of social cues, understood what she
meant.
But he was confused–she’d always acted like she wasn’t interested in him before.
So why the sudden change?
“Amy, relationships should come from the heart. Don’t let your gratitude for me saving you cloud your judgment. I’m a guy and a cop–it’s my job to protect women.”
Amy rolled her eyes.
“You think I’m a three–year–old who’s going to be fooled by that? I won’t be swayed so easily.”
“So why the sudden shift…” Justin asked, puzzled.

“I don’t know how to explain it. Relationships are just… strange, aren’t they? You can’t really define them, can you?”
Justin stayed silent.
Amy looked at him, noticing how uncomfortable he seemed.
She continued, “You don’t have to be so nervous. Either way, we’re going to take time to get to know each other. So, I’m just asking for a little priority. Before we define anything, we’re still

friends.”
Though Amy said this, Justin still felt an uncase he couldn’t shake.
He had always assumed that Amy was just bored and playing
with him.
Little did he know, she had already begun planning how to get to know him better.
Meanwhile, on the other side of town, Anthony’s stomach pain flared up again in the evening.
Despite receiving IV treatment at the hospital, it didn’t seem to help much.
Painkillers couldn’t be taken all the time, and he had no choice but to endure it.

The villa felt eerily quiet, the curtains left open, letting the flashing lights of the outside world seep into the room.

He curled up in pain, beads of sweat forming on his forehead.
At times like this, he couldn’t help but think of Abigail.
Even though he had thought she was being unreasonable carlier at the police station, in the quiet of the night, he found himself missing her more than ever.
He had convinced himself that Abigail was just angry after the
divorce.
He figured that if he gave her some time and let her cool down,
go back to she’d come back to him, and everything would normal.
