Chapter 104 The Four Returned to the City
After a long pause, Jasmine sneered again.
“I’m just trying to warn you, don’t be foolish and bite the hand that feeds you. In the end, you’ll have nothing to show for it. You saw how poor those two women looked, right?”
Felix raised an eyebrow. “It’s true for now, but after the trial, that might change.”
Jasmine’s smile began to fade, replaced by a cold, angry glare directed at Vivian and Vanessa.
“Ha, I came here today to warn you. Don’t push your luck by crossing my line. If you waste my time, I’ll make sure you regret it. If you insist on going to court, I’ll gladly see it through to the end.”
With a dismissive wave of her hand, the men holding baseball bats immediately sprang into action.
They began smashing things.
The sound of breaking windows echoed, mixed with Vanessa’s terrified scream.
Vivian quickly covered Vanessa’s ears, while Felix rushed to

shield Abigail from the chaos, trying to protect her as best as he could.
But the next moment, Abigail suddenly pulled out her phone and started recording.
“Stop right there!” she shouted.
The men froze and turned to look at her.
“I’ve recorded all your criminal actions. This is extortion and. intimidation, and it’s a crime. I have all the evidence, and I can
take it to court!”
Seeing this, Jasmine waved her hand, signaling the man in front to advance toward Abigail.
Felix didn’t hesitate. He grabbed the man’s arm and, in one smooth motion, disarmed him, knocking the baseball bat out of his hand and pinning him to the ground.
Felix raised the bat and pointed it at the remaining men, warning them off.
Abigail kept filming from behind.
Vanessa had regained some composure by this point and took out her own phone to join Abigail in recording the scene.
As the standoff continued, Jasmine realized she wouldn’t gain. anything by dragging it out. She waved her hand, signaling her
men to stop.

“Fine, you’ve got guts,” she scoffed, “but we’ll see who gets the last laugh.”
With that, she awkwardly turned away and led her group out, strutting with exaggerated flair.
Once they were gone, everyone let out a collective sigh of relief.
Felix turned to look at Abigail, thinking she must be braver than anyone he knew.
But the next moment, Abigail suddenly went limp and collapsed onto the ground, gasping for breath, her face pale with fear.
Felix squatted down and patted her shoulder.
“Are you okay?”
Abigail snapped back to reality and hurriedly saved the video on. her phone.
“This… This is the evidence of their threats! It’s unrelated to the property case, but if it’s shown in court, the judge will definitely consider it.”
Seeing her flustered, Felix couldn’t help but laugh, though it was a nervous laugh.
Despite being terrified herself, Abigail was still trying to record. the evidence.
Chapter 104 The Four Returned to the City Meanwhile, Vivian was comforting Vanessa, who was still
shaken.

Looking around, they could see the already dilapidated house was now even more wrecked.
It was no longer livable, and with no money to find another place, Vivian and Vanessa had no idea what to do.
After a moment, Abigail spoke again, “It’s not safe here for you two anymore. You can’t stay here. What if they come back while we’re gone? You won’t be able to defend yourselves.”
Vivian and Vanessa clung to each other, tearfully looking utterly helpless.
Felix nodded. There was no time to waste.
“She’s right. With the trial coming up soon, you should stay at my place for now.”
He turned to Abigail.
“Give them my room. I’ll crash at your place for a few days, if that’s okay?”
Abigail hesitated for a moment. She had initially planned to offer her own room to Vivian and Vanessa, letting them squeeze
in while she slept in the study.
But Felix had made this suggestion on his own.

She figured this way. The mother and daughter would be more comfortable.
After a brief pause, Abigail nodded.
“No problem.”
Vivian looked at both of them, eyes red from crying.
“You’re really going above and beyond. If it weren’t for you two, we would be completely lost.”
They didn’t have the money to pay the retainer fee for the lawyer.
That was why they had told Felix from the start that they’d only be able to pay him after the trial was over and they received. their share of the money.
Such an unreasonable request would typically be refused by any other lawyer.
When Vivian and Vanessa first approached Felix, they didn’t expect much.
But to their surprise, Felix agreed.
When Vanessa found out the lawsuit might not yield a big settlement, she immediately told Felix that she’d pay the retainer fee eventually–when she had the money after starting college and getting a job.

All of this, Abigail learned during the drive back to the city.
She couldn’t help but admire Felix a little.
In today’s world, being a lawyer wasn’t exactly the most respectable profession.

Many people saw lawyers as the kind of people who would fight for anyone, regardless of whether they were right or wrong, as
ng as the price was right.
Abigail knew this was the general trend.
After all, no lawyer became famous for representing “good people.”
But after knowing Felix for so long, Abigail felt that he was different.
At first, she thought he took her case because of her connection with Amy.
That was why he didn’t require an upfront payment, but now Abigail realized that Felix seemed to be like this with everyone.
Despite being such a famous lawyer, he didn’t seem to do things purely for the money. That was rare.
Felix was driving, and Abigail was sitting in the passenger seat, watching him.
Felix glanced over at her. “What are you looking at, admiring
Chapter 104 The Four Returned to the City me?”
Abigail quickly looked away, embarrassed.

No way… She hadn’t realized how obvious her admiration had been.
The car soon arrived at the building, and the two of them led Vivian and Vanessa upstairs to Felix’s apartment.
Though they lived across the hall from each other, it was Abigail’s first–time entering Felix’s place.
The entire apartment was decorated in a minimalist black–and–white–gray theme. Apart from a few large pieces of furniture, there was almost nothing else in the room.
It felt cold and empty, almost like a model home, with no sense of warmth or comfort–completely different from her own cozy, inviting place.
Vanessa helped Vivian to the bedroom, and they lay down.
Abigail and Felix stood in the living room.
“She’s having a hard time getting around. I’ll stay home and cook tonight,” Abigail said, going to the kitchen to open the fridge.
Felix nodded.
She quickly closed it again, embarrassed to see that it was
Chapter 104 The Four Returned to the City practically empty.
No wonder he came to her place for meals.
The kitchen was just for show.
“No worries. I’ll go with Vanessa to the store and get some ingredients. We’ll see what they like to eat,” she said
Felix nodded… again.

Though he was acting much friendlier than that morning, Abigail could still sense that he was holding something back, his mood not entirely positive.
