Chapter 13 Saw Something
As Michelle turned to head off, Anthony felt a pang of guilt watching her.
“I’m not tired. If you want to play, I’ll go with you,” he said, trying to ease her disappointment.
Michelle’s face lit up at his words, and she eagerly took his hand, leading him through the crowd to join the line for the rides.
Abigail had loved coming to amusement parks as a child, but everything changed when she met Anthony at eighteen.
Ever since falling for him, she had held herself to the standards. of Mrs. Robinson–composed, dignified, and always masking her
emotions.
Because of that, she hadn’t visited an amusement park in years. Now, the thrill rides she once adored made her feel a flutter of
anxiety.
Felix walked with her until they reached the drop tower, then paused.
“Let’s start with the most thrilling ride. You scared?”
Abigail felt a twinge of nervousness but shook her head, determined to keep up her bravado. “Not scared.”

to start.
Meanwhile, Anthony and Michelle had finally boarded the Ferris wheel.
As they settled into their seats, they had a clear view of the drop lower nearby.
Michelle stood by the window, gazing out at the scenery, while Anthony, feeling a bit anxious, cautiously leaned forward to look outside.
In a fleeting moment, he thought he saw Abigail sitting on the drop tower.
His brow furrowed as he stood up to get a better look.
But in the blink of an eye, the ride shot up into the air.
Noticing Anthony’s sudden shift in mood, Michelle moved closer and linked her arm through his. “What’s wrong?”
Anthony snapped back to reality. “Nothing, just thought I saw something.”
As the Ferris wheel climbed higher, Michelle rested her head on Anthony’s shoulder.
“You know, it feels like we’re kids again. Remember when you used to take me out for fun? You wouldn’t even ride the Ferris

“Did you know that if two people ride the Ferris wheel and reach the top together, they’re destined to never be apart?” Michelle said, her eyes sparkling with anticipation.
Anthony paused, struck by her words. He recalled Abigail saying something similar once.
Back then, she had been so eager to visit the amusement park, her excitement palpable, especially about the Ferris wheel.
She had leaned against him, sharing that same sentiment.
But Anthony had been too caught up in work to make it happen.
Now, sitting at the top of the drop tower, Abigail wasn’t reminiscing.
She was too busy trying to catch her breath, the rush of adrenaline making her heart race.
Abigail peered down hesitantly, her stomach dropping, and instinctively squeezed her eyes shut.
Felix, seated beside her, couldn’t help but tease.
“I heard you love these rides, but it seems like you’re just pretending to be brave.”

train.
She couldn’t help but scream as the ground rushed up to meet them.
A few seconds later, the ride finally settled back down, and Abigail felt like she had landed, but her mind was still swirling.
Her heart raced, and her thoughts buzzed like a swarm of bees.
In the next moment, Felix’s voice broke through Abigail’s daze. “Hey, you okay?”
Startled, Abigail turned to him, suddenly aware that in the instant the ride dropped, she had grabbed his hand tightly.
A wave of embarrassment washed over her, and she quickly released his grip and stood up, brushing off her nerves. “I’m fine.”
Felix stood as well, and they made their way out of the ride.

The rush of adrenaline from the drop had made Abigail’s heart race, but oddly enough, after that scream, she felt lighter, as if a weight had been lifted.
It was a surprisingly effective way to relieve stress.
Suddenly, Abigail felt a sense of freedom, as if she had broken the chains of the past few years and rediscovered herself.
“Absolutely! Why not? I want to ride the roller coaster, the swinging ship, the pirate ship–everything!” she exclaimed, her excitement bubbling over.
Felix raised an eyebrow, a grin spreading across his face. “Count me in.”
Meanwhile, as the Ferris wheel reached its peak, Anthony found himself lost in thought, wondering what it would be like to share this moment with Abigail.
Just then, Michelle, noticing his distraction, stood on her tiptoes and planted a gentle kiss on his cheek before quickly stepping back.
“Michelle, you…”
“Anthony, I know you’re not divorced yet, and this might not be appropriate, but I need you to know I’ve been waiting for you. Whenever you turn around, I’ll be right here,” she said, her cheeks flushed.

Michelle lowered her gaze, a hint of shyness in her demeanor.
“I’ve been reminiscing about the times we spent together. Those were the happiest moments of my life. Even if we can only be brother and sister now, I’m just grateful to be near you.”
Anthony didn’t respond, his thoughts swirling in confusion.
They fell into a quiet silence as they disembarked from the Ferris wheel.
Michelle was eager to hop on the carousel next, and Anthony willingly followed her, snapping pictures as she twirled around on the brightly painted horses.
By the time they finished with the carousel, the sky had darkened, and Abigail and Felix had managed to squeeze in a few more thrilling rides, their voices hoarse from all the screaming.
“Let’s grab a bite, Mr. Rowe. My treat,” Abigail said, her eyes sparkling with enthusiasm.
Felix didn’t hesitate, and they headed into a nearby restaurant.
They ordered a combo meal for two, and as Abigail dug into her food, she noticed Felix hadn’t touched his plate at all.

Felix cleared his throat, looking a bit sheepish. “I’m not really that hungry.”
Abigail then noticed that his face was unusually pale, almost paper–white.
“Are you feeling okay? Do you want to head back?”
Caught off guard by her concern, Felix opened his mouth to respond but ended up suppressing a dry heave instead.
Realization hit Abigail–he must be feeling queasy from the wild rides they had just tackled.
Abigail had seen him enjoying himself so much earlier; she hadn’t expected him to feel this way now.
Felix didn’t give her a chance to say anything else. He jumped up and hurried toward the restroom, leaving Abigail chuckling softly to herself.
She sipped her coffee, setting her fork down as she waited for him to return.
Glancing out the floor–to–ceiling windows, she caught sight of the carousel outside.
There was Michelle, beaming with joy, while Anthony stood beneath, diligently capturing every moment on his camera.
