Chapter 2 Happy Little Family
1/1
The burning flames devoured Abigail in the closing minutes of her dream, and she yelled in anguish before waking up abruptly.
The clean ceiling of a hospital room appeared, and it took her some time to gather her thoughts.
No one was around, but her wounds had been meticulously wrapped, and her right leg was in a thick cast.
Her hospital gown was drenched in sweat, possibly from the lingering effects of her nightmare.
Every breath sent a severe ache down her throat, and when Abigail tried to yell out, no sound emerged–her voice was undoubtedly ruined from inhaling smoke.
Abigail struggled to swing her legs over the side of the bed and leaned on a nearby crutch. She then walked over to the table and drank some water, which helped to clear her throat.
Worrying about Marcus, she leaned on the crutch as she made her way to the door, desperate to find someone who could explain what had occurred.
She noticed happy noises coming from the next ward as she left her room.
Abigail stepped forward, peering through the gap in the door, and her heart sank at what she saw.
