Chapter 24 Divorce Case
Half an hour later, the fried chicken arrived. Michelle carried it
to Marcus‘ room.
He was sulking inside with the door closed.
Michelle knocked on the door. “Marcus, I have something more delicious than tomato pasta.”
Marcus, hiding under the quilt, pouted and remained silent.
Michelle opened the fried chicken takeout and placed it at the door. Soon, the aroma drifted into the room.
Marcus immediately recognized it as fried chicken, quickly jumped out of bed, and ran to open the door.
The fried chicken at the door excited him.
Fried food was every child’s favorite. But Anthony preferred a light diet, and Abigail didn’t think that takeouts were healthy.
So she never allowed Marcus to eat such food.
Michelle brought the fried chicken to the table, and Marcus munched on it.
“Michelle, you are so nice. You buy me whatever I want.”

Michelle smiled and rubbed his head. “Marcus, I will buy you whatever you want to eat in the future.”

Anyway, whether it was healthy or not was none of her business.
As long as Marcus was pleased to acknowledge her as his stepmother, that was enough.
After getting off work in the evening, Anthony called Michelle and was relieved to confirm that Marcus was fine.
Reflecting on how much Michelle had done for Marcus during this time, he invited a few friends to gather at a newly opened bar nearby to discuss how to throw a birthday party for her.
When he arrived, his friends were already there.
They were sitting in the booth. At the sight of him, they quickly stood up to greet him.
“Hey, Anthony is finally here.” Ryan Lopez, who was the oldest among the group except Anthony, was more mature and composed.
Jason was the youngest. “Now, I have to make an appointment to see you. Mr. Robinson, you are simply a workaholic.”
Morgan Jones, who was about the same age as him, put his arm around his shoulders and joked, “You know nothing. Anthony is already a father now, so he has to be steady. It’s normal that he doesn’t have time to gather with us.”
Ignoring their teasing, Anthony sat in the middle of the booth

Jason poured him a glass of wine, leaned over, and asked tentatively, “Anthony, guess who I met when I went shopping with Hannah today.”
Anthony raised his eyebrows. “Who?”
“I met Abigail!”
Anthony secretly tightened his grip on the glass and then gulped down the wine.
Ryan and Morgan also came over.
“Abigail has told me that you are going through the divorce. process. Is that true?”
Anthony’s face darkened in an instant.
Abigail was really reckless. Despite quarreling with him, she even talked nonsense to others.
Ryan and Morgan became interested.
“It’s impossible, isn’t it? Anthony, do you want to divorce Abigail? Are you really going to get back together with Michelle?” Ryan asked playfully.
Morgan chuckled excitedly, “Really? Anthony, which one of you proposed the divorce?”

Jason slapped him. “It’s self–evident. Everyone knows that Abigail loves Anthony deeply. Anyone will ask for a divorce, but not her!”
Ryan and Morgan both laughed out loud.
They didn’t notice at all that Anthony’s face darkened even
more.
Everyone thought so, including him. Abigail must be throwing a tantrum, so how could she really divorce him?
The three of them stared at Anthony expectantly.
Frustrated, he put down his glass and took a deep puff on his cigarette..
“Abigail is just throwing a tantrum. Will she divorce me? You must be joking.”
Amy had been busy with the newly opened bar recently.
Today was no exception. Coming out of the lounge at the back, she spotted Anthony and his friends in the front booth.
When Abigail’s name was mentioned, Amy immediately walked over with a frown, sat down in the booth next to them with her back to them, and listened to their conversation.
“In that case, why don’t you coax her?” Ryan lit a cigarette, too.
“Coax? When have I ever coaxed her? It won’t be long before she

comes back on her own, just like every time before.”
Anthony was proud.

Jason added, “But I saw her buying a business suit today. It seems she has an interview tomorrow. Do you agree to let her go out to work?”
Anthony couldn’t help but squeeze his cigarette harder.
“What did you say? Abigail is a housewife who has always been kept at home and has never worked. Whether Anthony agrees or not is beside the point. Even if he does, she will not be able to find a job,” Morgan said sarcastically.
Jason nodded. “You are right, but I really heard it today.”
The three men fixed their eyes on Anthony again.
He was extremely nervous at the moment and wanted to question Abigail immediately.
But after all, in the presence of his three friends, he affected calmness.
“It’s just an interview, not a job offer. She is good for nothing. No company will hire her.”
The three of them grinned and nodded in agreement.
Amy was immediately furious. She gritted her teeth to suppress her anger.

“What about your divorce?” Jason asked tentatively again.
Anthony snorted coldly and put out his cigarette.

“Even if we’re getting divorced, I am the one who will dump her. Believe it or not, as long as I make a phone call and say a few nice words, Abigail will immediately come back, do everything for me, and even have a second child.”
His three friends burst into laughter.
Anthony was complacent, like a child who was insecure and had to shout out to cheer himself up.
Amy was so irritated that she wanted to rush up and slap those four bastards in the face.
Anthony mocked his wife with his friends behind her back. How shameless! Birds of a feather flocked together. None of them were good people!
At that moment, Anthony’s cell phone rang.
He pulled out his phone and saw a text message.
When he opened it, his smile immediately froze.
It was sent from the court, notifying him to be at the court as soon as possible for the summons and pleadings in the divorce
case.

At the sight of Anthony’s sullen face, the three men quickly surrounded him. By the time he reacted and locked the screen, it was too late.
All three of them had seen the message from the court.
The atmosphere suddenly became awkward. They glanced at each other and Anthony’s suppressed expression, not daring to
make a sound.
When they fell silent, Amy, wondering what was going on, leaned back to hear them more clearly.
After a long while, Jason finally asked tentatively, “That should be impossible. Could it be that Abigail is serious this time?”
Morgan looked thoughtful. “Was it really Abigail who asked for a divorce? Did she take it to court because you didn’t agree?”
Just now, Anthony had been confident, as if everything was under control.
Now that his pretensions had been exposed, he felt embarrassed, and his face darkened.
Ryan realized that if they continued to talk about the topic, Anthony’s rage would be ignited.
