A Second Chance After Divorce Chapter 3

Chapter 3 We’re Getting a Divorce

What are you doing here? Michelle is injured and needs to rest,Marcus said coldly, his voice devoid of warmth

Abigail was taken aback. Michelle just had a hand injury, but she suffered a far more serious injury herself. Even though she was standing among her family, she felt like an outsider

Diana shot her a glare. Some people are just bad luck. It’s like we’ve invited a curse into our home. What have we done to

deserve this?”

Anthony opened a food container. Mom, stop with the

nonsense.”

He glanced at Abigail. I didn’t know you’d wake up so soon, so I didn’t bring you anything to eat. There’s a cafeteria downstairs if you’re hungry.”

With that, the four of them began to eat, completely ignoring Abigail, who stood pale and silent at the door

At that moment, she felt an overwhelming sense of absurdity wash over her. Was this the family she had worked so hard to build

Fate had spared her life in that fire, and Abigail decided that she would treasure the time she had left and begin a new life

Taking a deep breath, she stepped forward, her gaze locking on Marcus. Marcus, you don’t want me as your mom, do you?”

Caught off guard by her question, everyone paused, forks hovering midair as they turned to look at her

Marcus, being just a child, nodded without hesitation

I really like Michelle. If I could, I would like her to be my mother.”

Abigail’s lips twisted into a cold smile at his predictable answer, then she switched her gaze to Diana. Diana, you don’t want me either, do you?”

Diana stood up, her fury rising. At the very least, you know your place. You are a jinx! If I had the option, I would not want you, just like Marcus.”

Anthony, who had remained silent, continued to eat as if nothing was happening

Michelle tugged at Diana’s sleeve in a feigned attempt to stop her. Diana, don’t say that.”

Diana pressed on. Michelle, please don’t hold me back; I need to speak what everyone is thinking! I’ve never liked her. If Anthony’s father had not insisted on the marriage, I would never have accepted her. She has been whining for years about getting unwell from childbirth, refusing to find work, and living off the Robinson family. She is as useless as they come!”

Abigail did have a traumatic childbirth, which left her with son persistent illness, but she had been wanting to go back to work

But Anthony, who had been doting on Abigail, had talked her out of it. He told her to focus on getting well soon. He promised he would support the whole family. He even stated that only if Abigail stayed at home to care for the house could he be worryfree while working

He had arranged it all, but now it turned out to be entirely her fault

His mother was accusing his wife, but Anthony remained silent, as if he hadn’t heard a word

Now, for the first time, Abigail knew what it was to be heartbroken

Her eyes, now red with unshed tears, turned to Anthony. What about you, Anthony? You don’t want me as your wife, do you?”

Finally, he set down the spoon and looked up, impatience flashing in his eyes

What do you want from me? Don’t start the drama once you wake up. I’m tired and don’t have the energy for your nonsense right now.”

To some questions, an indirect answer said it all.

At this moment, Abigail finally made up her mind. The family she had worked hard for years to build, the man she had loved for nearly a decadeshe didn’t want any of it anymore

A bitter smile crept across her face as she turned to Michelle. Congratulations to you all. Your wishes are about to come

true.”

Michelle feigned concern, but a glint of triumph shone in her

eyes

Anthony stood up, impatience radiating from him. What do

you mean?”

Let’s get a divorce!”
