Chapter 31 What’s the Matter?
After a long while, Anthony shook her hand off fiercely. “Pack up your books and get out of here!”
Abigail endured the pain in her wrist and bent down to continue packing up.
After packing up, Abigail didn’t want to stay here for even a minute. She walked out with difficulty, carrying a box of books.
Anthony followed her out when she reached the door. “Abigail, since you are the one who proposed the divorce, don’t act like I’m an unfaithful man. Tell your friend Amy not to target Jason. Otherwise, I will make sure she can’t continue her business in
Everston.”
Hearing this, Abigail was stunned and turned to look at him. “What do you mean? What does it have to do with Amy?”
“Go back and ask your friend yourself.” After saying that, Anthony turned around and went upstairs angrily.
Abigail realized that something was wrong, so after going out, she quickly called Amy.
However, she called several times, but Amy didn’t answer.
Thinking that at this time she should be busy in the newly opened bar, Abigail took a taxi and went directly to the bar.

As soon as Abigail entered, she found that the bar was not open today, and the newly decorated bar was in a mess with several people cleaning up.
Abigail walked over and found someone to ask, “Excuse me, is the bar closed today?”
“It’s closed. A few people had a fight here yesterday, and we haven’t cleaned up yet. It will be closed for the next few days.”
Abigail felt something was wrong when she heard this. She asked, “Where is your boss?”
“She didn’t come today and should be in another store.”
After leaving the bar, Abigail called Amy several more times, but Amy still didn’t answer.
She was anxiously thinking about calling Felix to see if he knew about the situation.
Unexpectedly, when she looked up, she saw Justin in casual clothes.
After meeting each other a few times, the two recognized each other at first sight.
Justin was the first to come over and greet her. “Ms. Taylor, what a coincidence. Nice meeting you.”
Abigail smiled politely, “Mr. Moore, what are you doing here?”
Chapter 31 What’s the Matter?
“I just got off work and happened to be passing by.”

Abigail nodded, recalling that she still owed Justin a favor last time.
She couldn’t get in touch with Amy for the time being, so she asked. “Mr. Moore, are you available now? I’d like to treat you to a meal to thank you for helping me last time.”
Justin agreed naturally. “Then, thank you for your treat.”
They chose a restaurant nearby and ordered some dishes.
Abigail didn’t have much appetite at first, but after seeing Justin eating voraciously, she felt her appetite improved a little.
Justin asked, “Ms. Taylor, has your friend ever learned fighting skills?”
Abigail knew that he was talking about Amy. After all, Amy was the only friend of hers he had ever met.
Thinking that he was talking about the last time Amy beat up the creepy guy, Abigail smiled, “Amy is straightforward and righteous. She has never learned any fighting skills but is very courageous.”
Justin nodded. “She is really brave, beating up four men by herself. Ordinary girls wouldn’t dare to do that.”
When Abigail heard that, she smelled something fishy. She put

down her fork and looked at him. “What are you talking about, Mr. Moore?”
Justin added more food and looked up at her.
“Ms. Taylor, your friend got into a fight with four men yesterday and ended up in the police station. One of them seems to be your
husband.”
Abigail instantly understood what had happened. It must have. been Anthony and his three friends who went to Amy’s bar and had a run–in with her.
That likely triggered the dispute.
“Why didn’t you call me to bail her out?”
“Your friend’s cousin came to pick her up. He’s a lawyer, knows the law well, and said he’s planning to sue those guys.”
Abigail immediately recognized that the lawyer he was talking
about must be Felix.
Her mind was elsewhere as she continued eating. After finishing her meal, she tried calling Amy a few more times, but she didn’t pick up.
Afterward, Justin drove over. “I’ll give you a ride, Ms. Taylor.”
Abigail figured that since she couldn’t reach Amy, it was better to ask Felix directly. So, she agreed to let Justin drive her home.
Chapter 31 What’s the Matter?
By the time Abigail got home, it was already dark. She went upstairs and stood in front of Felix’s door.
Just as she raised her hand to knock, the door opened.

Felix, dressed in sportswear, appeared to be heading out for exercise. Abigail and Felix made eye contact, and she awkwardly withdrew her hand.
“What’s up?”
“Well, I can’t get ahold of Amy. I was hoping you could tell me what happened.”
Felix looked at her and guessed right away. She probably knew about the fight by now.
“Change into something comfortable, and we can talk while we take a walk. I’ve also got something to discuss with you,” he said.
Abigail nodded and quickly went back to her room to change. into some casual clothes. Then, she followed Felix downstairs.
The community where they lived had a very good environment. In the center, there was a rubber running track and fitness equipment.
As they walked along the track, Felix began explaining what had happened the previous day.
“Yesterday, your ex–husband and his three friends were at Amy’s bar, and they brought up your name. They probably said

some nasty things, and Amy, as you know, has a bit of a temper. She got into it with one of them, a guy named Jason.”
Abigail immediately became worried. “Is Amy okay? Did she get hurt?”
Felix shook his head. “She’s fine. Although she’s a bit reckless, she’s always been good at defending herself. She’s never been on the losing side in a fight. But…”
“But what? She didn’t want you to tell me?”
Felix nodded. “She doesn’t want you to worry. Amy isn’t interested in making peace with them. She’s determined to take Jason to court.”
Abigail lowered her head, feeling guilty. “She’s doing this to stand up for me.”
But then she realized that, although Amy was a little wealthy and owned several stores, Anthony’s friends weren’t pushovers either. If they really went after her, it could hurt her business.
“If Amy has asked you to sue them, could you… not agree to it?”
Felix was taken aback. “Why? They humiliated you. Don’t you want to retaliate?”
Abigail smiled faintly, “It’s just words, and I don’t care about Anthony anymore. Why would I care about his friends? If I let Amy get involved in this legal mess because of me, I’d feel even
worse.”

Felix didn’t respond immediately but instead pressed his lips together and jogged ahead, taking small steps.
Abigail kept pace with him. “I just feel that Amy is my real friend. I don’t want her to worry about my problems. As for the divorce with Anthony, the court hearing is soon. Once it’s over, I won’t have anything to do with him anymore, so I certainly won’t care about his friends either.”
They jogged together. Felix asked, “Don’t you feel any regret?”
Abigail matched his stride. “What’s there to regret? I’ve already missed out on too many good things for people who weren’t worth it. I don’t want to waste any more time on them. And I don’t want the people I care about to get caught up in all of this.”
Felix didn’t respond but continued jogging.
As they ran, Abigail noticed he was getting faster.
“Hey, do you agree or not?”
“Catch up to me first.”
Abigail hadn’t exercised in a while.
While other housewives might enjoy activities like flower arranging, fitness, and coffee–tasting, Abigail had been an embarrassing housewife.
After just a few steps, she was exhausted and sat down on the

grass, gasping for breath. Felix jogged around the track and came back, sitting beside her.

“If you’re going to be my assistant, you need to keep up with the exercise. We’ll run together every morning and night.”
Abigail was stunned. “Why? Does being an assistant mean I have to run, too?”
Felix looked up with an unreasonable expression. “I’m the boss, and I make the rules. Follow me, or I’ll deduct your salary.”
For the love of money, she sighed but didn’t argue.
After the run, her tired body did feel better. It wasn’t so bad
after all.
“About what you said earlier, I’ll talk to Amy. I’ll ask her to drop the case. And I also hope you’ll be able to move on from the
past.”
Hearing this, Abigail smiled, “Thanks, Felix. To show my appreciation, I’ll treat you to breakfast tomorrow.”
At ten o’clock in the evening, Jason called Anthony.
At that time, Anthony was sitting in his study, staring at the empty shelf and frowning.
He wasn’t in a good mood, and his voice was curt.
“What?”

“Anthony, it seems you still have some pull with Abigail. I just got the notice that Amy’s dropping the case.”
Anthony was momentarily stunned. He had expected Abigail to fight back, but instead, she had just let Amy drop the case without even a fuss.
A feeling of awkwardness surged in his chest, but he remained silent.
Jason, sensing something was off, asked cautiously, “What’s going on? Are you still fighting with Abigail over the divorce?”
Hearing this, Anthony felt even more annoyed.
“Hey, Anthony, like I said, I don’t believe Abigail would really go through with it. Women are just like that. If she wants to make a scene, you just play along. Want me to teach you how?”
Although Jason didn’t seem very reliable, Anthony had to admit. that he was good at dealing with women.
Anthony lowered his voice. “What’s your plan?”
Jason smiled, “She’s suing for divorce, right? Just show up when needed. Whatever demands she makes, refuse them. Go against her, make her feel like it’s impossible. Then, throw a big birthday party for Michelle to show Abigail that you’re doing fine without her. After that, she’ll be the one panicking and coming back.”

Although Anthony had doubts, he still couldn’t help but half–believe it. He pursed his lips.
“Reliable?”
“Trust me. It’s absolutely reliable!”
