He grabbed the bottle back, taking another couple of swigs from
- it.
“Don’t mind me! Just leave me alone!”
Michelle settled beside him, uncapping another bottle of alcohol and drinking alongside him.
“Is it really that hard to get over the divorce with Abigail?”
At the mention of Abigail’s name, Anthony’s expression darkened immediately. He suddenly threw the bottle down onto the floor, the glass shattering into fragments that scattered everywhere.
“Abigail… who does she think she is? How dare she ask for a divorce! Back then, I always gave her an out, and she’d take it. But today, she says our relationship is broken? She used to love me so much!”
Michelle handed him the bottle she’d just opened.
“If she loved you so much, then what about you? Do you still love her?”
“Love? We’re getting a divorce, what’s there to love?”
Michelle rarely saw Anthony like this–so unhinged.

Even when she’d suddenly broken things off with him and left for another country, Anthony had been cold, distant, and brooding.

But now, Abigail seemed to be able to stir up his emotions like nothing else.
Her heart sank as she blinked back tears. “What about me, Anthony? Do you still love me?”
At her words, Anthony froze for a moment, his head dropping,
silent.
Michelle turned to face him, her voice cracking as she spoke, “When you got hurt, I wanted nothing more than to be by your side, to help you through it. But then I was diagnosed with cancer, and I couldn’t drag you down or make things harder for you, so I had no choice but to go abroad and get treatment on my own. Those years alone in a foreign country… it was so painful, so exhausting. But every time I thought of you, I pushed through. I kept hoping that I’d get better, that I could come back to you. And if I had, maybe… maybe Abigail wouldn’t even
exist.”
Anthony took another swig, wiping his mouth with his wrist.
Back then, his relationship with Michelle had never been supported by his father, but he’d never considered giving up.
Yet, Michelle’s sudden departure had left him blindsided, and Abigail had been there for him during his darkest days.
Chapter 42 Experience Nightlife
He’d thought Michelle had left because of his injury–so he could hate her and move on
But now, to hear she left because she was sick…

He’d been torn between the love he had for Abigail and the passion he felt for Michelle, a battle between the one who had. stayed with him through his lowest points and the one he had once loved so deeply.
Feeling Anthony’s inner conflict, Michelle’s eyes welled up with tears. “I know, Anthony. I know it was Abigail who helped you through the dark times. I know I’m the one who’s weak… But I’m already so grateful that you’ve allowed me to stay by your side, even as just your sister. I shouldn’t be asking for more.”
“Don’t say that.” Anthony’s voice was rough. “What happened with Abigail has nothing to do with you.”
But Michelle’s tears kept flowing.
“I’m the one who left without a word. No matter what the reason, I’ve wronged our relationship. And now, I’m the one causing you pain. I’m the one who’s between you and Abigail, ruining your marriage. But Anthony, I really… I couldn’t help it. I… I really couldn’t…”
Her voice choked with emotion. Anthony’s frown deepened, and at last, his gaze landed on her tear–streaked face.
He reached up and gently wiped the tears away from her cheeks.

“Stop crying. I know you had your reasons. I’ve already forgiven you, but we…”
Before he could finish, Michelle leaned in suddenly, pressing her lips to his in a desperate kiss.
The air between them grew thick with tension, the room charged with an undeniable intimacy. Anthony stiffened in shock, before shaking himself back into reality and forcefully pulling away
from her.
“Michelle, we…
”
“What? Anthony, didn’t you say you forgave me?”
Before he could respond, Michelle closed the gap again, wrapping her arms around his neck and kissing him deeply.
For a moment, Anthony hesitated, his last bit of reason struggling against the rising tide of desire. But the alcohol clouded his judgment, and soon, that hesitation crumbled.
Under the dim lights, with the lingering warmth of alcohol in the air, the forbidden seemed to melt away as everything fell into place.
Anthony, now a man lost in his own impulses, seized her roughly, pushing her back onto the couch, consumed by an animalistic hunger.
His kiss moved from her lips to her neck, then downward, as he

claimed every inch of her skin, igniting the fire between them.
Michelle’s lips curled into a satisfied smile.
Abigail, this time… it was you who let go.
Abigail finished going through the documents, and it was already late. Felix had been working overtime as well.
The moment she put the papers down, Felix also set aside the materials in his hands.
Glancing at the time, it was past ten o’clock. It was a bit too late to eat a full meal, but skipping dinner left her feeling starved.
When they left the office, Felix grabbed Abigail’s arm and led her in the opposite direction.
Noticing something was off, Abigail asked, “Aren’t we heading
home?”
“Dear Ms. Taylor,” Felix said with a teasing smile, “if you’re going to return to the workforce, you can’t just stick to office hours. The city nightlife is something you should experience as well.”
Before Abigail could respond, Felix led her to a stop in front of Amy’s bar. Abigail paused, surprised.
“Wait, are you saying…”
Felix raised an eyebrow, his grin widening. “A little nightlife

indulgence can do wonders for the spirit.”

With that, he hopped out of the car, and Abigail followed. They walked in together, Felix ahead, Abigail trailing slightly behind.
It was clear that for city professionals, ten o’clock was the perfect time to unwind.
The office workers who, by day, appeared lifeless, fragile even -like they’d crumble under the slightest touch—were now transformed.
Here, they shed their stiff work attire. Ties were loosened, buttons undone, collars turned into off–shoulder looks.
On the dance floor, they swayed to the beat, their smiles wide, carefree, their energy almost contagious.
Abigail felt a bit out of place in this environment.
It was her first time at Amy’s bar, and she wasn’t used to the loud, pounding music and the dim, pulsating lights that made it hard to see clearly.
She quickly found herself lagging behind Felix.
Noticing her distance, he turned around, grabbed her wrist, and gently pulled her forward.
It could have been the atmosphere, but Abigail couldn’t help but notice how hot his hand felt around her wrist, the heat spreading up her arm.

When they reached a table in the front, Felix finally released her, slipping into the chair with a relaxed familiarity. He crossed his legs, as if he were a regular here, making himself comfortable in the center of the booth.
Abigail, unsure of where to sit, stood awkwardly to the side, her body frozen between sitting and standing.
At that moment, a woman approached them. She wore a gold mask and a tight red velvet slip dress that hugged her curves. With a seductive confidence, she moved closer to Abigail, swaying her hips to the music in a way that was almost too intimate.
Abigail felt her cheeks flush with embarrassment as she instinctively leaned away, but the woman wasn’t having any of
- it.
She sat down next to Abigail, leaning in close and lightly tilting her chin up with her finger.
For the first time, Abigail felt like she was being… flirted with by another woman. Her face turned bright red, the flush creeping all the way down to her neck.
Seeing Abigail’s discomfort, Amy couldn’t help but laugh. With a swift motion, she pulled off her gold mask, revealing a mischievous smile.
