Chapter 50 Are You Still in Love?
Abigail couldn’t help but laugh bitterly, feeling like she was the one who had just been labeled as the third party between Michelle and Anthony.

For a moment, Michelle’s smile faded, her eyes narrowing with
irritation.
“What’s so funny?”
Abigail’s laugh was sharp and laced with sarcasm. “I’m laughing at you, Michelle. It’s hard to believe that in this day and age, someone like you–supposedly a modern woman—would be standing in a bathroom, discussing love with me?”
Michelle’s brows furrowed slightly, and Abigail’s gaze held an edge of mockery as she continued. “Maybe for you and Anthony, love is everything. But for me and him, our marriage is about more than just feelings. It’s a choice made by two families, a union that carries more than just our emotions–it’s about the future of our families. So, love or not, it doesn’t hold the same weight for us. What matters is what we stand to gain from this marriage. That’s the reality we have to consider.”
It was almost ironic. The very words she had once rejected, spoken to her by her father, had now become the very weapon she was using against Michelle.
At that time, she had fought against them, insisting that if she

were to marry Anthony, it must be for love.
But now, she was using those same words to push Michelle
down.

Abigail paused for a beat, then added with quiet intensity, “Maybe there’s not much love between Anthony and me, but our relationship is the only one legally recognized as a legitimate marriage. Until that divorce certificate comes through, we’ll always be legally married. And you? No matter how much love you have, no matter how happy you think you are, you’re nothing but an illegal presence in his life. You can’t even stand proudly by his side, let alone openly show your love for him.”
Michelle’s face flushed with anger, her hands balling into fists.
The words struck a nerve, and for the first time, she saw Abigail for what she truly was–sharp–tongued and fearless.
The Abigail she had known had always been the quiet, patient one, always stepping back.
She never realized that this sharp edge had always been there, hidden beneath the surface.
Abigail took a step closer, her voice dropping to a low whisper as she leaned into Michelle’s ear.
“Talking about playing the ‘other woman‘ as if it’s something fresh and sophisticated… but in the end, you’re still nothing but something hidden in the shadows, unable to stand in the light.”

The words hit Michelle like a slap, and she froze for a moment, her face paling as the insult sank in. She was speechless, her body trembling with rage, her teeth gritted in fury.
Abigail turned on her heel and walked past her, heading straight for the door.
Hannah, still standing by the door, shot Abigail a glare and tried to stop her, but Abigail didn’t even glance her way.
With a sharp shove, she pushed Hannah’s hand away and walked out.
Hannah staggered back, almost falling. She quickly regained her balance, her mouth open to shout, but by the time she was steady on her feet, Abigail was already out of earshot.
Hannah rushed to Michelle’s side. “Michelle, did Abigail lose her mind or something?”
Michelle’s face was a deep shade of red, her hands clenched into tight fists, her eyes bloodshot with anger.
Her voice was low and seething. “Abigail…”
It was clear that Michelle was livid, and Hannah, sensing the storm, wisely kept silent, not daring to say another word, fearing she might be the next target for Michelle’s fury.
After leaving the restroom, Abigail straightened her back and made her way to the elevator. She let out a sigh of relief only when the doors closed behind her.

She was secretly glad she’d chosen to wear the red dress and sky–high heels today.

At least in terms of presence, she had easily outshone those two
Women.
Her intention had only been to step out for a moment to catch her breath, but instead, it had only added to her frustration.
As she returned to the party, Abigail walked up behind Felix, who immediately stopped his conversation with others and turned his attention to her.
“The restroom smelled that bad?” Felix asked, noticing her pale expression. “You look like you’re about to pass out.”
Abigail raised an eyebrow. Honestly, she was more than a little. choked by the overpowering scent of their perfume. “Something like that,” she replied, shrugging it off.
“Not used to this kind of scene?” Felix led her to a nearby sofa
and sat her down.
Abigail shook her head. “It’s not that.”
She thought back to her childhood, when she had always loved the energy of a party. Every time her parents attended one, she would beg to tag along.
She’d pick out her prettiest little dress and feel like the center of
attention.

Even at her coming–of–age ceremony when she was eighteen, when she first fell for Anthony, she had relished the spotlight.
But now, things were different.
Over the years, Anthony had insisted that she stay out of the public eye, saying a woman’s role was to manage the home.
She had been almost entirely isolated, and even the environments she once thrived in now felt alien and
uncomfortable.
Felix handed her a glass of champagne. “Do you know what’s worse than divorce?”
Abigail took a sip, curious. “What?”
Felix’s gaze turned serious. “It’s the fact that even after a divorce, the influence that person has on you over the years still lingers.”
Abigail fell silent, her gaze drifting as Felix’s words sunk in.
He watched her for a moment, then continued. “Abigail, do you even remember who you are?”
Her breath caught. To be honest, she wasn’t sure.
Despite losing the title of “Mrs. Robinson,” its shadow still
loomed over her, making it hard to find herself again.

Felix’s voice was soft but insistent. “I’m going to ask you a few questions. Don’t think, just answer instinctively.”
Abigail looked at him, curious. Felix leaned in slightly, his tone
more serious now.
“Do you prefer spicy food or bland?”
“Spicy,” she replied without hesitation.
“Coffee or juice?”
“Coffee.”
“High heels or flats?”
“High heels.”
“Red or white?”
“Red.”
Felix paused after that last question, looking at her with a contemplative expression as he took a sip of his champagne.
“Now think about it–how have you been living these years?”
Abigail was quiet for a moment, her thoughts swirling.
Anthony liked bland food, so she ate bland food. He liked coffee, so she drank coffee. He preferred white dresses with flats, so she had never worn anything bold like red or high heels. She had

conformed, losing sight of her own preferences.

Felix’s tone softened, and he handed her a glass of red wine. “Remember, Abigail, you are who you are. Everything else is just a label. Don’t lose yourself in the role you’ve been assigned.”
There was something refreshing about his words, like a weight being lifted from her shoulders.
For the first time in a long while, she felt an unfamiliar sense of clarity and relief.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the party, Michelle had just returned from the restroom with a fresh slap mark on her face.
She’d had Hannah slap her on purpose, to make it look like someone had attacked her. Their plan was simple: create drama and frame Abigail.
Hannah was helping Michelle walk, her arm around Michelle’s shoulders, as Michelle held her cheek, wincing dramatically. Her face was flushed with indignation, her movements slow and exaggerated as though she were badly hurt.
As soon as they stepped into the ballroom on the sixth floor, all eyes were immediately on them.
Anthony, who had been frowning, rushed over as soon as he saw Michelle’s disheveled state. “What happened? Didn’t you just go to the restroom? Why do you look like this?”
Michelle lowered her head, putting on an air of helplessness and

vulnerability.

Hannah, breathing heavily with fake fury, chimed in. “Anthony, you have to do something! Michelle was just bullied terribly!”
Jason, who had been nearby, quickly approached. “What happened?” he asked, his voice filled with concern.
