Michelle tugged at Hannah’s hand, shaking her head with a look of hurt. “Let it go; everyone’s just here to have a good time. Don’t bring it up.”
The more she acted like this, the more anxious Anthony became.
He asked, “What happened? Who hit you?”
Hannah looked like she was about to burst. “It was Abigail!”
The moment Anthony heard Abigail’s name, he froze, and the crowd around them began to murmur softly.
“Abigail? Isn’t she Anthony’s wife? The heiress of the Taylor family?”
“She got hit because she was mistaken for a mistress. I mean, Anthony threw a birthday party for her and didn’t even bring Abigail along.”
“Right? If I were her, I’d think he was cheating too.”
As the whispers grew louder, Michelle’s tears flowed uncontrollably.

Seeing Anthony’s face darkening, Jason pulled Hannah even tighter.
“Stop it!”
Hannah, still defiant, was about to argue back when Jason pulled her away.
“Seriously! Can’t you see Anthony’s not happy? You’re just going to get us all in trouble.”
Finally, Hannah relented and fell silent.
Morgan and Ryan exchanged glances, both sharing a look of helpless amusement.
Michelle stepped forward and grabbed Anthony’s arm, shaking it gently.
She said, “Anthony, don’t be mad at Abigail. She must have. misunderstood. After all, you two are still sorting out your divorce; it’s natural for her to feel upset seeing you throw a birthday party for me.”

With every word, Michelle felt more and more wronged, convinced that Anthony must feel guilty seeing her treated like a third wheel.
With guilt, he’d be easier to manipulate.
Sure enough, after a moment of hesitation, Anthony pulled Michelle into his arms.
He said, “I’m getting a divorce from Abigail. She has no right to hit you. She’s overstepping her bounds.”
With Anthony’s protective stance, it was clear he valued Michelle over Abigail.
The onlookers fell silent, too intimidated to continue their gossip.
Even those who looked down on Michelle before could only press their lips and stay quiet.
Anthony gently touched Michelle’s bruised cheek, his mind racing with images of Abigail kissing another man. Anger boiled inside him.

The more he thought about it, the angrier he got. Without a second thought, he took Michelle’s hand and headed for the exit.
Michelle asked, “Anthony, where are we going?”
His face was a mask of fury. “We’re going to confront Abigail.”
With that, he dragged Michelle outside, and many curious onlookers followed suit.
At the elevator, Anthony turned to Hannah.
“Where’s Abigail?”
Hannah said, “I saw her heading to the eighth floor.”
Jason stayed close to Hannah, worried she might say something she shouldn’t.
As the elevator doors opened on the eighth floor, Morgan and Ryan were already rushing up the stairs, realizing they were too late to stop the confrontation.
Meanwhile, Abigail was oblivious to the storm brewing, chatting with Mark Aniston, the owner of a construction company, as he raised his glass for a toast with Felix.
Abigail stood next to Felix, flashing a bright smile.

Catching the underlying hint in Mark’s words that he might be trying to set Felix up, Abigail stifled a giggle behind her hand.

“I’ve got my eye on someone already. I’m in hot pursuit.”
Mark nodded, rolling with the conversation. “Well, here’s to Mr. Rowe’s success in love!”
They clinked glasses and downed their drinks. Meanwhile, Abigail, momentarily lost in thought, found herself the center of

“Your companion looks familiar. Might I ask who she is?”
Abigail quickly composed herself and introduced herself, “Hi there, I’m Abigail Taylor, Mr. Rowe’s assistant.”
Mark’s face lit up with recognition.
“Ah, I remember now! You’re Charles‘ daughter–the heiress of the Taylor family!”
Abigail blinked in surprise; her family was in real estate, and it was possible Mark was a friend of her father’s.
“Do you know my father?”

Mark smiled warmly, taking a moment to size her up.
“I’ve known your father for decades. I even attended your eighteenth birthday party. There were quite a few suitors back then hoping to get in good with your dad, but if I recall correctly, it was Anthony from the Robinson family who ended up with you, right?”
At this mention, Abigail’s smile faltered slightly.
Mark glanced around the room. “Where’s Anthony today? I haven’t seen him.”
Abigail felt a wave of embarrassment wash over her, but she maintained her composure.

She thought, “Those two really know how to set the stage. A chance encounter in the bathroom, and now they’re putting on a whole show.”
As the crowd began to gather, Anthony’s face was a mask of fury, and he showed no signs of backing down.
