Chapter 57 I Like This Young Man
Charles‘ emotions settled a bit as he held onto Abigail’s hand tightly, unwilling to let go.
“How could Anthony do this to the Taylor family? You’re far too good for him, Abigail. You’ve made the right choice.”
Laura chimed in, her voice filled with agreement, “Now that the Robinson family is on the rise, they’ve certainly learned to repay kindness with malice.
“They have no idea how much we helped them when we were in a better position.”
Charles continued, “We never expected much in return, but their deliberate sabotage is just plain low.”
Abigail nodded, her determination unwavering. “Don’t worry, Dad. I know what I need to do.”
Both Charles and Laura understood that, given the circumstances, divorce was inevitable.
Still, the thought of Abigail having to go through this was painful.
Instead of being a support for her, their family felt like a burden.
But they also knew Abigail was resolute.

They clearly misunderstood the nature of her relationship with Felix, but she didn’t have time to clarify it now.
“I figured it was almost lunchtime, so I took the liberty of picking up some food. I wasn’t sure if Mrs. Taylor had any dietary restrictions, so I got a little bit of everything,” Felix explained, starting to unpack the takeout.
Abigail stepped in to help him..
Charles and Laura exchanged glances, a satisfied smile spreading across their faces.
“By the way, since you just had surgery, I made sure to get some light soup and broth for you, Mr. Taylor,” Felix added.
Charles nodded appreciatively. “You’re too kind. Thank you for going out of your way.”
Laura leaned in again, whispering to Charles, “So, what do you think? Did our daughter make a good choice this time? I like this young man.”
Charles nodded in agreement. “He does seem like a good guy, but you never know someone’s true colors until you’ve spent some time with them.”
As Felix and Abigail finished setting up the meal, Abigail planned to take the soup to Charles.
But before she could move, Felix had already taken the bowl to the bedside.

“I’ll feed you, Mr. Taylor,” he said, adjusting the bed for comfort before sitting down next to Charles.
Feeling a bit embarrassed, Abigail stepped forward to intervene.
“You’ve been busy all morning, Felix. You should go eat; I can handle this.”
Felix shrugged, unfazed.
“Do you even know how to care for a patient? I’ve got this down to a science. Consider this a live demonstration. You can eat while you learn.”
With that, he scooped up some soup, blew on it to cool it down, and offered it to Charles.
Charles nodded with satisfaction. “This is delicious.”
He and Felix fell into an easy conversation, laughter and banter flowing between them.
Watching this harmonious scene unfold, Abigail felt a sudden. pang of being surplus to requirements.
Laura, sitting on the couch, waved her over. “You worry too much! Come on, sit down and eat before it gets cold.”
She glanced at Felix. “Have you eaten yet, Felix? Why don’t you join us for a bite before you continue feeding him?”
Felix smiled, shaking his head. “Don’t worry, Mrs. Taylor. I had

a snack before coming over, so I’m not hungry.”
Laura couldn’t help but smile as she watched Felix’s back.

It was clear that both she and Charles were warming up to him, which made Abigail feel a bit awkward.
Just then, Amy burst through the door, carrying a basket of fruit and some health supplements.
Upon seeing Felix feeding Charles, she paused for a moment, then quickly regained her composure.
“Mr. Taylor! You’re alright!”
Charles recognized Amy as Abigail’s closest friend, a lively girl with an infectious spirit.
“Hey, Amy! I’m fine now; thanks for coming by.”
Amy let out a relieved breath. “I’m so glad to hear that! You had me worried sick.”
Abigail rushed over. “What are you doing here?”
Amy set her things down and put her hands on her hips, looking at Abigail with mock indignation.
“Are we still best friends? You didn’t think to tell me Mr. Taylor was in the hospital? If it weren’t for Felix mentioning it this morning, I’d still be in the dark!”

Abigail shot a glance at Felix, who was focused on feeding Charles.
“I was just asking if she knew about any dietary restrictions for patients. The rest was all her guesswork.”
Abigail felt a wave of warmth wash over her.
Earlier that day, when she received the call about her father, she had felt lost and scared.
But now, surrounded by these caring friends, she felt incredibly lucky.
Charles finally connected the dots, looking at Felix. “So you’re Amy’s brother?”
Felix nodded. “Sort of, Mr. Taylor. Amy is my cousin.”
Charles continued, “I remember Abigail mentioning that Amy’s family isn’t from around here. She’s staying for college, right? What about you?”
Felix replied earnestly, “I’m not from here either, like Amy.”
Charles nodded, satisfied, and didn’t press further.
Laura jumped up, pulling Amy to the couch.
“You rushed over here so quickly, and I bet you haven’t eaten yet. Felix brought plenty of food. Let’s dig in together!”

Amy eagerly agreed, plopping down on the couch beside Laura, chatting and laughing as if they were old friends.
The hospital room, which had felt so cold and empty just moments ago, suddenly came alive with joy and laughter.
Abigail couldn’t help but smile as she watched them.
Once everyone had eaten their fill, Abigail grabbed the trash to take it out.
As she stepped into the hallway, she unexpectedly bumped into
Justin.
He exclaimed, spotting her immediately, “What are the odds? Abigail, what are you doing here?”
She halted, surprised by the encounter. “What a coincidence! I didn’t expect to run into you here.”
Justin scratched his head, looking a bit sheepish. “I was just here to handle a civil dispute. Someone got hurt, so we came to mediate. How about you? Are you feeling alright?”
