Chapter 64 In a Relationship
Michelle’s tears flowed uncontrollably as she spoke.
“But in the end, all I got was watching you marry someone else, and I didn’t even get a chance to stop you.”
Anthony’s mind replayed images of their childhood as he listened to her.
It was after Michelle’s mother passed away, the first time she came to his house.
She looked so tiny and fragile, trailing behind him, calling him sweetly. In that moment, his heart melted.
After that, he’d done everything he could for her, buying her pretty dresses, even cute little hairpins.
She’d bloomed like a rose under his care, from something delicate and wilting into someone vibrant and radiant.
As teenagers, their feelings slowly began to shift.
At first, she was just a friend, but gradually, bit by bit, he had fallen for her.
Anthony knew deep down that if she hadn’t gone abroad back then, even if his father had pressured him to marry Abigail, he would never have agreed.

Back then, he would have been willing to sever ties with his own family if it meant marrying her.
But then she left, and he thought she’d given up on him. Now,
hearing her explain herself, it felt like she was pulling him back into a dark abyss.
Seeing the emotional turmoil in his eyes, Michelle suddenly kissed him, her lips pressing gently against his.
Then she met his gaze, her voice quiet but firm.
“Anthony, this time, I want to be selfish. I want to stay with you. You and Abigail have plenty of time together, but if I really… if I die, I’ll rest easy knowing she’ll be there for you.”
The more she said things like this, the more the guilt in Anthony’s chest deepened.
The next moment, he kissed her fiercely, his emotions overwhelming him.
It was like a spark meeting dry tinder, an unstoppable fire igniting between them.
In an instant, they lost themselves, their clothes scattered across the floor, the curtains left untouched.
Meanwhile, downstairs, the tension was palpable.
Abigail and Amy sat in the car, waiting for the police to arrive.

But neither of them expected that the one stepping out of the patrol car would be Justin.
The two quickly jumped out of the car, and Amy grabbed Justin’s arm with a frown.

“Seriously? Out of all the cops in this city, you’re the one who shows up? What are you, everywhere?”
Abigail quickly pulled Amy back, giving Justin an awkward look.
“Well, this is just a coincidence. This hotel is near my precinct, so we were the first ones called in.”
Abigail didn’t mind too much. After all, Justin was a friend now, so at least it wasn’t someone completely unfamiliar handling the situation.
But having a friend help catch her husband in the act was a whole other level of awkwardness.
“Well, I guess we’re in your hands now.
Justin gave a confident smile, shaking his head and patting his chest.
“Don’t worry, Abigail. Leave it to me. It’ll be fine.”
With that, Amy and Abigail got back in the car, while Justin and his two colleagues headed into the hotel.
They followed Abigail’s instructions and made their way straight

to room 1806.

When they knocked on the door, Anthony and Michelle were locked in the heat of the moment. The timing couldn’t have been more perfect.
Just then, a sharp knock sounded at the door, interrupting the
moment.
Anthony’s face darkened in irritation, while Michelle’s face. flushed bright red. She quickly grabbed a towel and wrapped it around herself.
Still wrapped in a towel around his waist, Anthony frowned and went to open the door.
When he saw the police standing there, he froze for a second.
Justin held up his badge. “Good evening, sir. We’ve received an anonymous report claiming that illegal activities are taking place here. Please come with your companion and cooperate with the investigation.”
Anthony’s face immediately soured.
“Anonymous report? Illegal activities? Are you guys out of your minds?”
“We’re not mistaken. Please come with us.”
Anthony sighed in frustration, but he knew there was no way out. Grudgingly, he turned around and went back to get dressed.

A few minutes later, Anthony and Michelle came out, both fully dressed and still holding hands.
Anthony thought Justin looked familiar, but he couldn’t quite place him.
Abigail and Amy watched as Justin and his colleagues escorted Anthony and Michelle out of the hotel.
The hotel receptionist watched the scene in stunned silence, her thoughts a mix of surprise and admiration for how smart Abigail
was.
From Michelle’s flushed face and Anthony’s impatient frown, it was obvious they’d been interrupted mid–action, before they could fully indulge in the moment.
The police car took them to the station.
Abigail and Amy had planned to wait in the car for updates from Justin to find out if everything was going smoothly.
But a few minutes later, Justin knocked on the car window.
Amy rolled it down.
“You two come with me. Since you’re legally married, you can sit in the room next door while we take the statement.”
Hearing that, Abigail and Amy followed him into the station.

Since Justin had met Anthony a couple of times, he passed the job of taking the statement to his colleagues and stayed with Abigail and Amy in the adjacent room.
Anthony and Michelle were still holding hands, and Michelle had lost her earlier flush, now looking pale and nervous. Anthony patted her shoulder gently, trying to reassure her.
“It’s okay, don’t worry. This must be a mistake. If we cooperate, we’ll be fine.”
Michelle nodded, but her anxiety didn’t quite fade.
Amy couldn’t help but smirk at the scene. “What a scumbag. I’ve never seen him care so much about you before.”
Abigail remained calm, though. After all, she’d seen Anthony show concern for Michelle before. It wasn’t new.
The police started asking questions.
“Could you please tell us what your relationship is?”
Michelle didn’t speak, her eyes on Anthony. He hesitated for a moment, frowning.
“We’re not involved in any kind of transaction. She’s my…”
He trailed off, unsure of how to explain without it sounding implausible.
He paused, frowning deeper.

“There’s no money exchange between us. You can check our records. If this were some illegal transaction, there would definitely be a record.”
The officer pressed further. “Maybe you haven’t paid yet? If you’re not involved in any transaction, then are you in a romantic relationship?”

Anthony hesitated but didn’t respond. Michelle bit her lip, then took his hand and spoke up.
“Yes, we are in a relationship. Our call logs and chat history will confirm we’ve known each other for a long time. This isn’t about money. We’re both willing participants.”
The officer nodded thoughtfully but then added, “Mr. Robinson, we checked your records, and we found that you’re married. However, your wife… doesn’t seem to be the lady here.”
