Chapter 71 He Lives Across the Hall
The bartender said, “Excuse me, sir, but you need to pay for my phone.”
Anthony met his gaze with a steely glare. In the next moment, two other bartenders approached him.
“Sir, we have security footage. If you don’t cooperate, we’ll have to call the police,” one of them said, gesturing at the surveillance camera overhead.
Though Anthony’s face flushed with anger, he realized he had no choice. If he didn’t pay, Amy would definitely sue him.
Reluctantly, he removed his watch and tossed it into the bartender’s arms. “This could cover 10 phones.”
Satisfied, the bartenders finally let him go. Fuming, Anthony stormed out, taking deep breaths to calm himself.
Once in his car, without a clear destination in mind, he dialed Ryan. “Can you look something up for me?”
Ryan immediately picked up on the tension in Anthony’s voice. His curiosity was piqued–something interesting must be happening.
He sat up on the couch, eager to know more. “What’s going on?”

Anthony paused, his tone dropping to a serious low. “I need Abigail’s current address.”
Excited by the mention of Abigail, Ryan asked, “Didn’t she just move back there a few days ago? Did you two have another fight?”
With an icy expression, Anthony snapped, “Cut the crap. Can you find it or not?”
Ryan remained patient, smiling. “Don’t worry. No big deal. Of course, I can help you. But as your friend, I want to know what’s really happening.”
“Too many questions. I’m hanging up,” Anthony replied bluntly.
“Wait! Don’t hang up! I’ll have someone look it up and text it to you,” Ryan quickly said.
That satisfied Anthony. Moments later, Ryan sent him a WhatsApp message with Abigail’s address.
“Abigail lives here now. It’s a nice place. Looks like she’s doing well after your fight,” Ryan commented.
His grip on the phone tightened as Anthony read the address.
He had expected Abigail to be struggling after their breakup, but instead, she was living in a fancy apartment.
Ryan was about to ask another question, but Anthony hung up the phone. He drove straight to Abigail’s building.

The apartment complex had tight security. Anthony couldn’t reach Abigail, and the security guard refused him entry.
Frustrated, he clenched his jaw and parked his car in the lot, deciding to wait for her.
Meanwhile, Abigail was planning a feast for her friends.
She hadn’t dined out in a while, so she let Amy select a
restaurant.

After some consideration, Amy chose Joe’s Barbecue.
It was a bit of a drive from the city but set in a beautiful camping area surrounded by mountains and water.
The owner had already set up tents and grills.
After Amy informed everyone of the address, the others rushed there.
Abigail and Felix were the last to arrive. When they got there, Gavin and Justin were firing up the charcoal while Sunny and Amy arranged the food on the table.
Upon their arrival, Amy and Sunny waved enthusiastically at Abigail. She joined them at the table while Felix was quickly pulled over by Gavin and Justin to help with the cooking.
“How did the trial go today?” Sunny asked with keen interest.

Abigail smiled. “It went really well. The divorce is finalized, and I’ll be getting the property I deserve.”
Amy beamed at the news. “Of course, it went well. She had Felix as her lawyer!”
Sunny agreed, saying, “Amy has told me about everything. You did great! You can’t be soft on a jerk like Anthony. Being kind to him is just being cruel to yourself!”
Abigail was already in a good mood today, and being in such a positive environment made her feel even more relaxed, both physically and mentally.
When Charles fell ill a few days ago, she was truly distressed. But now, she realized that no matter how tough things got, there was always a way through.
Suddenly, Amy remembered something and said, “Abigail, Anthony came to the bar looking for me today but couldn’t find me. He called asking for your address. I didn’t give it to him, but he might find it on his own. Why don’t you stay with me for a while?”
Sunny’s expression changed to concern. “I agree. He just got divorced. What if he’s upset and decides to cause trouble for you? You should be careful.”
Abigail shook her head. “It’s fine. Anthony’s not the type to lose. his cool over a divorce. Besides, if things escalate and word gets out, he would be embarrassed.”

Despite Abigail’s reassurances, Amy and Sunny were stil worried.
After cutting the fruit, she added, “Seriously, I live in a safe building now. Plus, Felix lives right across the hall. If anything happens, I can go to him. Anthony wouldn’t dare do anything reckless.”
Amy’s eyes widened in surprise. “You mean you live across from Felix?”
Abigail nodded. “Yeah.”
Suddenly, Amy sensed something off. “But when you rented this place, didn’t you have limited money? The rent must be quite high. And…”
She vaguely remembered that the apartment across the hall was Felix’s. Had she misremembered, or had he secretly sold his
place?
Abigail chuckled. “I got lucky. The agent told me the owner was rich and just wanted someone to rent it. He also mentioned something odd–the previous tenants all went through divorces. I figured it was a good sign for me. Turns out, it was!”
Sunny burst into laughter, but Amy frowned, feeling something
was wrong.
Before they could continue, loud voices erupted from the three men, interrupting their conversation.

Gavin shouted, “Wait! You need to add oil first to get it started!”
Justin countered, “No, didn’t we just add oil? It’s already smoking. If this keeps up, we might need the fire department!”
The ladies glanced over, unsure if the grill was fiery or not, but the smoke billowing was thick and dark.
Gavin and Justin were now covered in soot, looking
embarrassed.
