Chapter 8 Two Thousand Dollars
“Come to Mom’s place now. I need to ask you something.”
Abigail felt a surge of irritation at Anthony’s commanding tone.
“Anthony, for the last time, I’m divorcing you. You have no right to order me around.”
Anthony’s face darkened even more at Abigail’s blunt refusal.
“Haven’t you caused enough trouble? Fine, I’ll…”
Abigail didn’t give him a chance to continue, immediately pressing the hang–up button.
Realizing he’d been hung up on, Anthony was momentarily stunned.
He was about to throw the phone in anger but stopped himself when he saw Michelle beside him.
He restrained himself and handed the phone back to her.
Seeing his troubled expression, Diana didn’t need to guess what Abigail had said.
“See, what did I tell you? Abigail is rebelling, isn’t she? She’s out of control!”

Anthony gritted his teeth. “She says she wants a divorce. Fine, if that’s what she wants, I’ll give it to her.”
Hearing this, Michelle immediately feigned being upset.
“Is Abigail still upset about what happened yesterday? She must be mad at me. If me being here will cause you trouble, then… I’ll leave.”
As Michelle spoke, she turned to leave, but Marcus quickly rushed over and hugged her tightly.
“Michelle, don’t go! Dad promised to divorce Mom, then you can be my mom!”
“Marcus, don’t say such things. Anthony, Abigail is a good woman. You should cherish her.”
Michelle placed Marcus on the sofa, pretending to leave again.
Seeing this, Anthony grabbed her arm.
“It’s not your fault. It’s Abigail causing the trouble. Why should you leave?”
Diana also stood up to block her way.
“Exactly! This is your home. Where else would you go? If
anyone should leave, it’s Abigail!”
“But…” Michelle looked conflicted.

Diana pulled her to sit next to Marcus.

“No buts. When your mom passed away, she entrusted you to me. I promised to take good care of you.”
Marcus hugged Michelle, wouldn’t let her go.
Anthony headed upstairs, his head throbbing.
Abigail’s tantrums were nothing new, but she would always return after a few days.
Yet something felt different this time.
In his study, he drew a deep breath to steady himself.
This was Abigail – the same woman who’d pledged her love when he was nearly disabled.
Divorce? Impossible. She couldn’t survive without him.
Let her make her scene, he thought. He’d wait to see how she’d manage when she ran out of options.
Later that night, Michelle was putting Marcus to bed.
Marcus lay in bed, holding her arm.
“Michelle, I acted like you told me to today. Was I convincing?”
Michelle gently caressed his small face, “Yes, you’re the best.”

“Then can you be my mom from now on?”
“Don’t worry,” Michelle said with a gentle smile. “I’ll be your mom, if that’s what you want.”

In her mind, she was determined to reclaim her position as the lady of the Robinson.
The divorce agreement from Felix arrived after ten.
“Try for an amicable settlement first,” his voice message said. “Legal action is the backup plan.”
Abigail reviewed the document – marital assets split equally, Anthony getting custody.
“Alright, senior,” she messaged back. “I’ll speak with him tomorrow.”
Just after sending the message, she received a call from the police department.
“Is this Ms. Abigail?”
“Yes, this is she.”
“This is the police station. Your friend Amy got into a fight and needs someone to bail her out. She asked us to contact you.”
Abigail jumped up, grabbing her clothes. “I’m coming.”

argue,
She knew Amy well–hot–headed, quick to act rather than argu but she knew where to draw the line.
She never fought without reason.
Something must be wrong.
Abigail heard Amy’s voice before she reached the office door.
“You can’t be serious! He was groping my waitress! I taught him a lesson about respect, and now he wants money?”
The police officer’s voice remained steady. “Miss Rowe, please settle down. Whatever the provocation, you struck first. He’s offering to settle. Without an agreement, you could face assault charges – that’s serious.”
Amy’s fist hit the table as she jumped up. “Let him sue! I’m not afraid!”
Abigail stepped in just then. Amy rushed to her immediately.
“Abby, tell them – this creep harassed my staff. A few slaps were all he got. Why should I pay?”
Seeing Amy’s rising anger, Abigail quickly stepped between her and the officer. “Easy now. Let me sort this out.”
Amy, still fuming, sat down with her arms crossed, glaring at the young officer.
Chapter 8 Two Thousand Dollars Abigail walked over: “Officer, may I have your name?”
“Justin Moore.”

“Mr. Moore, I’m Amy’s friend, Abigail. I overheard most of the situation from outside. We’re not opposed to compensating. How much is he asking for?”
Justin sighed: “Two thousand.”
Abigail nodded, “That’s not too much. How about this: could you bring him over so I can have a word with him? Would that be alright?”
Seeing Abigail’s calm demeanor, Justin nodded. “Alright, wait a
moment.”
When Justin left, Amy turned to Abigail. “I’m not wrong here. I won’t pay a single cent, not even two thousand.”
Abigail nodded calmly. “Don’t worry, I know what to do.”
Justin returned with the man.
Amy shot him an angry look, while he responded with a smirk.
“Here he is. You can talk now.” Justin sat between them, with Abigail and Amy on one side, the man on the other.
“Sir, I want to apologize for my friend. Violence was wrong, no matter the circumstances,“Abigail began.

The man tilted his head back with arrogance.

“Exactly. This is assault, plain and simple. I could get examined and file charges. But I’m being generous because she’s young. I’m offering a settlement, yet she’s making this complicated.”
