Chapter 94 Office Romances
The group didn’t respond, but Amy was brimming with excitement. Ever since she found out that Felix liked Abigail, it felt like a whole new revelation to her.
She wasn’t too concerned about whether Felix’s long–time crush was actually Abigail or not. Nor did she care about whether Gavin’s analysis was true. What mattered to her was one thing: she didn’t want Abigail to get hurt, and she wanted Felix to have a happy ending.
The funny part was that she knew both of them so well. If those two got together, it would be the perfect outcome–a real feel–good story. It was one thing to be love–struck, but when two people like that got together, it was pure magic.
Just imagining how happy they’d be together made Amy want to rush in and push them straight into each other’s arms. The thought that tonight she could finally set her “Matchmaker Plan” into motion had her so excited that she couldn’t even mix the drinks properly.
Meanwhile, Abigail and Felix had no idea what was going on behind their backs. As the drinks kept flowing, Abigail started feeling a little tipsy. Just as Amy said, alcohol really did give her
courage.
She became bolder and began mingling freely with everyone, laughing and joining in the fun. They ate, drank, sang, and

played games–everyone was having a blast.

After a while, Sophia suggested playing Truth or Dare. The bar had a spinning wheel, so they all gathered in a circle. Whoever the arrow pointed to had to either answer a truth or take a dare, depending on what it landed on.
Everyone happily took their seats–girls on one side, guys on the other. Abigail and Felix ended up sitting directly across from each other. Sophia spun the wheel first. As the wheel spun, everyone watched it anxiously. Finally, it stopped.
The truth arrow pointed to a guy from the admin department, Leo Parker, while the dare arrow landed on Ella Miller, a lawyer on the left side. With everyone cheering them on, Leo and Ella stood up.
Leo, being his usual cheerful self, immediately spoke up, “Go ahead and throw anything at me. Just don’t involve the lady.” This got the group even more excited. They immediately started tossing out questions and dares.
Someone teased, “Truth? Oh, I’ve got so many questions for you.”
Someone echoed, “Hey, let’s make one thing clear: no getting upset, and you have to answer honestly.”
Although everyone had tons of things they wanted to ask, no one could decide where to start. So, they all turned to Abigail.
“Abigail, since you’re the one hosting tonight, we’re giving you

the honor of asking the first question. Don’t miss the chance to help us get to know each other better.” Someone must have said this, and everyone nodded eagerly in agreement, waiting for Abigail to take the lead.
Abigail had been watching the fun but suddenly became the center of attention. She froze for a moment, then quickly reacted. “Well… okay then.”
She turned to Leo. “I’ve only just met everyone, so I’m not that familiar with anyone yet. Let me just ask a simple question to help me get to know everyone better.”
Leo nodded. “Go ahead.”
Abigail finally spoke, “Are you and Emma… in a relationship?”
Earlier, Abigail had noticed that while the two of them didn’t seem to interact much, Leo’s gaze would subtly wander to Emma. And whenever their eyes met, there was an awkward tension. It seemed like they were deliberately keeping their distance, but the closeness that seeped through was hard to ignore.
Plus, when they were singing earlier, she noticed that the screens of Leo’s and Emma’s phones seemed to match. What she thought was a casual question turned the atmosphere suddenly tense. As soon as the words left her mouth, the room went silent. Everyone held their breath, quietly watching for reactions.
Leo’s smile froze, and it took him a long time to regain his composure. Before Abigail could figure out what had happened,

Emma, the receptionist, was the first to react.
She suddenly stood up, pale–faced, and waved her hands. frantically. “Abigail is just joking. Leo and I are just… colleagues, close colleagues, that’s all! Please don’t misunderstand.”
Everyone quickly followed suit, trying to case the tension, but the awkwardness was palpable. Emma’s face was now pale as she sat down, her mood clearly dropping.
Realizing she had probably asked something she shouldn’t have, Abigail quickly tugged at Sophia’s sleeve, leaning over to whisper, “Did I say something wrong?”
Sophia leaned in as well. “Abigail, office romances are a big taboo. If it gets exposed, it’s one of the worst things that can happen.”
It was like a lightbulb went off in Abigail’s head. She felt her buzz from the alcohol wear off halfway. She wanted to slap herself. She thought, “How can I be so naive? Even if I haven’t worked before, I’d seen enough drama on TV to know that office relationships usually lead to someone getting fired.
Sure, relationships at work can be sweet, but if things go wrong, emotions can mess with everything. Companies generally don’t support employees getting romantically involved with each other. And if it’s discovered, someone has to be let go. My family’s company even has an unwritten rule like that.”
Realizing she had messed up, Abigail’s face flushed with embarrassment, her mind racing to think of how to fix it. Before

she could say anything, Felix spoke up.

Holding his glass, with a smile in his eyes, he looked at Leo, who seemed in an awkward position. “Is that so? You and Emma are a couple?”
Leo’s face turned pale as well, and the mood in the room shifted immediately. No one was laughing anymore. From everyone’s reactions, it seemed that office romances weren’t limited to just this couple.
Emma, seeing the situation, forced a smile. “Mr. Rowe, you’ve misunderstood. Leo and I are just good friends. We’re from the same hometown, and it’s been tough for both of us working out here, so we’ve been looking out for each other…”
Before she could finish, Felix turned to Leo. “Is that true? Is what Emma said correct?”
Leo remained silent for a long time, not saying a word. Abigail, seeing Leo’s uncomfortable expression, wanted to slap herself again. She thought bitterly, “How could I cause such a huge mess?”
But she still wanted to do what she could to make things right. So, she mustered up the courage and spoke, trying to ease the tension. “Well, actually… I just asked out of curiosity. Don’t take it seriously, okay? I was just joking. Don’t be so serious.”
Leo suddenly looked directly at Abigail, his expression stern, brows furrowing slightly.
