I grabbed my laptop and started walking, but
Jake ran up to me, blocking the way.
“What are you doing? What about our bills?”
<
“You’re just going to quit? What about how it
was your dream!”
Brittany rushed over, tears welling up in her
eyes.
“Vi, you don’t have to do this; I’ll give you
another chance.”
I rolled my eyes.
Then, Brittany bit her lip and dropped to her
knees.
“Vi, please don’t quit over this; your fans will
never forgive me!”
“I’ll delete everything; we can pretend this
never happened, just don’t quit because of
me!”
The cameras flashed like crazy.
My agent, the one who discovered me, came
over to help Brittany up.
“Brittany, why are you kneeling to a copycat?”
“She’s getting what she deserves; you just
signed a deal, you’ve got work to do.”
く
signed a deal, you’ve got work to do.”
I wanted to get out of there, so I left the
building.
I took a back exit and caught a cab back to
my apartment.
My phone buzzed with notifications.
My name was trending.

The news was all lies.
They said I stole Brittany’s ideas and
threatened her to be my ghostwriter.
The comments were horrible.
[Wow, so gross; I’m a fan of a copycat.]
[I watched the conference; Violet Lewis didn’t
say a word and then made Brittany kneel!]
[Good for you, quitting; I would have ruined
you!]
<
you!]
[She made enough money so she’s running
away; support Brittany, sue her!]
My DMs were even worse.
Meanwhile, Brittany’s followers went up, and
all the comments were nice.
I left a comment.
[Hope you can finish the second half; don’t let
your fans down.]
I knew I didn’t have much left.
Brittany was too worried that I’d publish
before she could steal it, so she made her
move early.
But she couldn’t handle my foreshadowing or
plot.
Exposing her would happen, eventually.
