The Harrisons disappeared. I watched their
stock continue to tank. Then, news broke:
Harrison Enterprises hadn’t gone bankrupt. A
new investor had stepped in.
My old phone buzzed with messages from
Britney. “You think we’re helpless without
you? You’ll never see me kneel! I’ll live better
than you! Enjoy your pathetic life with the
Millers!”
I ignored her rants. My friend texted, urging
me to come.
I stood before Harrison Enterprises, hadn’t
been back in a while. Murmurs followed me
as I crossed the lobby.
“Isn’t that the old CEO? What’s she doing
here?”
“Is she taking over? Britney almost ruined the
company.”
I took the VIP elevator to the top floor with
<
my friend.
“You?” Britney gaped as I entered her office.
Realization dawned. “You’re… You’re Ms.
Miller?”
I smiled.
