Chapter 6
It was Garrick.
Almost in the next second, he kicked away the person harassing me and pulled me forcefully into his embrace.
A familiar cool scent enveloped me as I lay against him.
Half–conscious, I slowly opened my eyes and looked up at the enraged man before
- me.
“Are you tired of living?” His voice was chillingly cold. “You dare lay a hand on my fiancée?”
Someone immediately recognized him, their face turning pale. “Mr… Mr. Sterling? This is our private room. How could you be here? And… w–what fiancée?”
Seeing that it was Garrick, Elwood quickly pushed Amara aside and hurried over with a fawning expression.

He was his biggest client.
Over the past few years, Elwood’s company had thrived thanks to the strong support of Garrick, the prince of the Rowan circle.
One must have always known how to flatter people.
“Mr. Sterling, your esteemed presence is an honor! Why didn’t you inform us beforehand?”
Garrick gently protected me in his arms, gritting his teeth with a cold sneer. “Elwood, is this how you protect Elysia?”
Seeing this scene, even the slowest of minds could understand the situation.
He was incredulous. “Mr. Sterling, how do you know Elysia? She… she…”
He looked at me who was completely disheveled, my hair drenched in spilled liquor, a tangled mess.
My dress was stained with dirt and my exposed skin was covered in red rashes.

Even my fair face was swollen and
unrecognizable.
Garrick’s forehead bulged with veins.
He was known for his calm and
composure, yet no one at the scene had ever seen him so furious.
“Who did this? Who all were involved?”
Elwood’s face turned ashen and only then
did he realize the massive trouble he had
gotten into by accident.
He fell to his knees with a thud.
“Mr. Sterling, is Elysia really your fiancée?”
Garrick’s expression darkened. “What do you think? Why else would’I have invited all of you to this party today?”
“I’m here to announce that Elysia is my fiancée,” Garrick said, his voice cold and
authoritative.
He fixed his gaze at Elwood. “Elwood, you’ve really done well. I’ve been

searching for her everywhere, only to find that you‘ ve hidden her here. You even dare to lay a hand on my fiancée. Do you think I’ll let you off the hook?”
Elwood’s face turned ashen with fear.
In a panic, he tried to explain, “I’m sorry, Mr. Sterling, I didn’t know! I didn‘ t know! Elysia has been waiting for me to
marry her. I thought she came here to… to accompany…”
The words got stuck in his throat. He knew now that with Garrick this furious, their future cooperation was in danger.
Realizing the gravity of the situation, Elwood dropped to his knees, bowing his head in desperation.
“Mr. Sterling, it’s my fault. I’ll have my friends apologize to you and Elysia. As for our cooperation…”
“Cancel it,” Garrick said, his voice filled.
with concern as he gently touched my face. “Elysia, can you still hang in there?”

Chapter 6
Seeing my discomfort as I furrowed my brow, he shouted at the bodyguards, “Call the private doctor over!”
Garrick’s gaze turned icy as he lifted his head, his voice cold with fury. “Everyone present today, I won’t let any of you off. Take them all away.”
The bodyguards responded in unison, “Yes, Sir!”
Garrick carefully wiped the alcohol and other liquid off my face, then noticed my disheveled appearance. He quickly removed his jacket and draped it over my shoulders.
“I’m sorry, Elysia. It was my mistake,” Garrick said, sounding guilty. “I should have had someone pick you up earlier.”
To my surprise, his eyes were red.
I wanted to shake my head and tell him I
was okay.
