Ashley was surprised.
“What do you mean we’re running out? Don’t
we have enough money to last a few months?”
Chad sighed.
“There’s no way that’s enough. The teachers
alone are already costing us 60000 a month.
Not to mention the clothes we bought for our
baby! Our credit cards are maxed out.”
Achlow frowned
<
Ashley frowned.
“That’s going by too fast. Whatever. I’ll go ask
Sarah. Her family is so rich. Borrowing a few
hundred thousands from her isn’t a problem.”
“I can’t believe how stingy Sarah is. She’s so
rich. She doesn’t need all that money! She
should offer to help us.”
That night, Ashley stopped me before I went
into my room.
Looking at her friendly smile, I thought back to
the past. Whenever she looked at me like that,
it always meant she wanted something.
Last time, I agreed to let her borrow the money.
I gave her 500,000.
She replied.
“Sarah, you’re so rich! I always hear about how
<
other people’s friends buying them a car or a
house. I never thought I’d get to experience this
myself! Thank you Sarah. By the way, can I pay
you back later on?”
I felt needed, and feeling sympathy for her,
agreed without hesitation.
I didn’t see the envy in her eyes.
But my kindness was nothing more than a
source of pride and greed.
In this life, I will not make the same mistake. I
won’t foolishly feed a wolf in sheep’s clothing.
So, I replied.
“I want to help you. But I don’t have any money
in my account right now. I used it all to buy
things for my baby.
Whether they believe me or not, when it comes
<
to money, I’m going to tell them that I don’t
have it.
I had prepared ahead of time for this.
Ashley and Chad’s expression changed
immediately.
Chad tried to smile.
“Sarah, a few hundreds aren’t enough, but I’m
sure you have enough for tens of thousands.
Ashley is your best friend! She’s pregnant, and
you’re going to be the baby’s aunt. It shouldn’t
be a problem, right?”
Here we go again. Good friend. Aunt.
In this life, I don’t need those things.
So, I continued shaking my head.
“I’m telling you, I only have a few dollars in my
<
bank account. If we didn’t have a chef, I
wouldn’t even be able to eat.”
I took out my phone and showed the message
to them.
Ashley frowned.
“Sarah, why don’t you ask Mark for money?”
I sighed.
“He’s not giving me anything. He said I’ve been
spending too much money and told me to
watch it.”
Ashley panicked.
“Then what about your parents? I’m sure they’ll
give you money.”
I continued shaking my head.
