I helped him to the sofa in the living room and
stared at his features.
He opened his eyes and looked at me.
“You like me?”

“You like me?”
I nodded like I was possessed.
He smirked and pulled me close, kissing me
deeply.
From that day on, I became his girlfriend
without a title.
I have heard of Lily, but never met her.

When Danny was with her, I was struggling with
essays in my junior year.
When I had the time, the story has already
developed to the point where she was
abandoned.
I thought that I was the medicine that healed his
heart, but it seemed that it was a joke.
The next day, I hired a moving company to pack

Danny didn’t have a lot of things, he lived next door, so he just brought his daily necessities.
It was just a small box when I sent his things
back.
I opened his door and took back all the photos and accessories, leaving his key on the table.
I sent my belongings overseas as well.
While the real estate agent was inspecting, I remembered that the key was in Danny’s
possession.
I called him, but he kept rejecting the calls.
He sent me a message: [I don’t want to hear
anything from you other than an apology.]
I hired a locksmith to change the locks.
After handing over the apartment, I boarded the

flight the next day.

I thought that I would be sad to leave the home,
but I felt relieved.
Before boarding, I got a lot of birthday
messages.
My friends wished me happiness and luck!
After replying, I turned off my phone.
As the flight took off, I was sure that I would be
happy!
Chapter 2
When the plane landed, London was bathed in a glorious, glittering night. I lugged my suitcase
out of Heathrow and instantly spotted the familiar faces craning their necks, looking for
- me.
“Dad! Mom! Mark!”
<
Mark, bless his heart, swooped in and grabbed
my suitcase like he was born to do it, clearing
the way for me to dive into Mom’s waiting
arms.
Being able to hug my family again? It was the
best feeling ever. I squeezed Mom tight, tears threatening to spill.
“Welcome home, honey. Your mom missed you so much.” Mom patted my back, and my guilt
intensified.
Nine years ago, chasing some goofy idea of romance, I ignored their advice and insisted on staying in New York for college. They were bummed but didn’t force me to leave, letting me have my way.
Turns out, that “quick trip” turned into nine long years with just brief Christmas visits. I’d put
them through so much heartache!
<
“Mom, I’m never leaving again. I’m staying right.
here with you and Dad.”
They exchanged a look and smiled. “That’s all
we’ve ever wanted, to have our family together
again.”
Laughing and chatting, I took Dad’s arm with
one hand, Mom’s with the other, and we walked
out of the airport.
Meanwhile, back in New York, Danny’s world
was crumbling.
He sat on the floor, a broken mess, frantically
trying to call me.
Every year for my birthday, Danny would have a bracelet specially made from Stars, and get a
reminder to go pick it up on the birthday.
This year was no different.
r
He was shocked when he received the phone
call, and finally remembered that it was my
birthday.
Looking at his phone, he realized that I haven’t
contacted him in a while, not even today.
He felt like he was losing something and
something heavy was weighing down on his
chest.
He sent me a text.
【Since it’s your birthday, I will give you a pass,
just apologize to Lily and we can forget about
it.)
The message was sent and the red exclamation
mark stood out clearly.
Then a pop–up appeared on his phone.
