“Were you helping me, or helping Chad? You
know the answer!”
824
“You were just setting Chad up for a free ticket
to Ivy League, so obvious!”
Sarah got angry,
“Doesn’t mean that you get to smear him!”
“Do you even care that he could get arrested?”
Chad spoke,
“I’d never do that, it’s Jake making this up!”
“Tell them!”
The cop grabbed his arm,
“If we’re arresting you, it’s because we have evidence. Otherwise, we wouldn’t be here.”

“I wanted to be nice but you forced my hand.”
Chad went white.
In the first lifetime, I had thought Chad was evil.
After getting his dirt on him, I knew he was just
dumb.
He didn’t hide anything, which made finding him.
out so easy.
I just had to put the pieces in place.
It was like he was begging to get caught.
I’d sent the evidence to the cops and made the
call.
He was handing himself over and I wasn’t going
to stop him.

Chad got taken away.
824
Last time, I had gone through this, and nobody
had cared.
This time they were all on my side.
But I still felt empty.
People were shallow and didn’t bother trying to
figure out what the truth was.
It was how I had been destroyed.
Now, I was using that to get revenge.
The comments, they all reminded me.
Brittany liked Chad, so that was simple.
But Sarah? What was her deal?
Was she even my sister?
く
Was she even my sister?
I had a bad feeling.
I snuck back home and grabbed a strand of
Sarah’s hair.
I went to get a DNA test.
I had a feeling I knew what the answer was.
The cops needed me to give a statement.
The officer who took it was patient and kind, he
seemed to know a lot.
After I got the paperwork done, I started telling
him about my real problem.
Even though Chad was in jail, I had no idea how
he had stolen the essays.
I told the officer everything.

He thought for a minute, and then looked
around my room.
Finally, he looked at my glasses.
He asked if he could check them out.
I handed them over.
824
He looked at them closely, then he understood.
“That’s how he did it!”
I was confused.
The officer pulled out a tiny toolkit, and a
microscopic screwdriver.
He took off a screw and pulled out a tiny,
thread–like wire, the same thickness as hair.
There was a camera.
<
8:24
It was tiny, hidden in the threads, almost
impossible to see.
I was speechless.
The officer explained I wouldn’t have found it.
Those were only for government spies.
He had arrested spies before.
The camera could record and track.
Now it all clicked. That was how Sarah knew
where to find me.
It was her fault.
She had gotten mad and pushed the ball.
And broken my glasses.
She told me she’d get me new ones.

I was mad but the new frames were nice so I’d
let it go.
She had been planning it the whole time.
It chilled me to the bone.
It was someone I had trusted.
I gave the evidence to the school.
I wanted Chad out, I wanted them all to suffer.
Plus, I turned in a report and sent it to Sarah’s
boss at the University.
She was so proud of her job?
I’d take it away.
I had to make her understand what pain I was
dealing with.
