Chapter 5
Chad scoffed.
“That bitch called the cops!”
“What are they gonna do? I’m ridding the world
of evil!”
People in the group were telling Chad he was
doing a good job.
He was excited to do something about it.
He was going to break the things in my house.
With the Live going, Chad broke all of my
porcelain dolls.
They were priceless.
He also ruined all of my photos.
<
Chad had gone to far. He had gone to jail
before for breaking and entering.
When the cops got there, Chad acted
differently.
He tried to blame me.
“The woman is a freak! Brittany was supposed
to come here for chili, but she hasn’t been
home all night. She must have been kidnapped.
Help me get my wife back.”
Instead, the cop asked, “Who called?”
I spoke up.
“I did. Chad broke into my house and destroyed
a lot of stuff.”
The cop looked at the mess and asked Chad,
“Did you do this?”
L
Chad got nervous.
“I’m just worried about my wife. This woman
must have taken her.”
Chad started pulling on the cop.
“I didn’t get her permission, so stay back.”
Chad backed off.
The cops wrote everything down, and then
asked me,
“What about Brittany? Are you close? He said
she got lost at your house.”
I shook my head.
“Brittany is a friend from high school. I don’t
know where she went.”
<
“She told her husband she was coming here for
chili, but I’m allergic. Why would I eat chili?”
Chad and I both spoke. The cops asked me to
call Brittany.
I got her number, and Chad gave me a nasty
look.
“Amy’s gonna lie. She’s been shut off all night.
She sent her to Mexico!”
The cop got serious.
“Be nice, and stop with the lies.”
Chad stepped back.
The cop dialed Brittany’s number.
The phone rang.
Chad started to say something, but a cop
glared at him.
The phone was answered, and Brittany said in a
sweet voice,
“Amy, I wanted you to come, but you didn’t. Do
you regret it?”
“There’s a lot of hot guys here. If you come
now, you can still get one.”
Besides Brittany’s voice, I could hear men.
I stared back at her.
“Brittany, it’s late. Aren’t you worried your
husband will be mad?”
Brittany scoffed.
“Who cares? Tell him I’m at your place for chili,
AA
<
and I’m sleeping over. He’s dumb, so he won’t
figure it out.”
As Brittany spoke, I glanced at Chad.
His face turned red. If the cops hadn’t been
there, he would have beat her.
It was clear what had happened. The cop pulled
the phone closer to him.
“Brittany, this is the police. You need to come
to the station within an hour. There has been a
home invasion.”
The phone went quiet. I could hear Chad yelling,
“Brittany, you’re being difficult! Why are you at
a strip club?!”
“Get home now, or I’m gonna deal with you!”
