After rebirth, the fire came and
everyone waited for death
Chapter 1
The kindergarten was on fire.
Me, a teacher, wasn’t rushing my kids out.
Instead, I was calmly waiting with them to die.
Last time around, this was all about some new
teacher, Ashley, who messed with the electrical
panel and started the blaze.
It was a freaking inferno, swallowing the
classroom in seconds.
Kids were screaming and trampling each other
to escape.
Ashley fainted dead away from the shock.
<
I risked my neck to drag those kids out, ending
up with burns and in a coma for two weeks.
But when I woke up, there was no medal, just a
tsunami of online hate.
“Worthless teacher, arsonist, murderer!”
“Why couldn’t you have died instead!”
I was so confused until the parents showed up.
Turns out, all the kids I saved still died in the
fire.
The cops arrested me, flashing “evidence“: my
fingerprints on the electrical panel.
I was the real arsonist, they said.
I was shamed and humiliated.
Even my husband, Mike, pulled out my medical

records, saying, “She never liked kids. She’s
had, like, three abortions.”
I was crucified.

The furious parents stabbed me eighteen times.
Even in death, I didn’t understand.
Why were my prints on that panel?
Why did the kids I saved all die?
And why did my loving husband want me dead?
Then I woke up again, back in the kindergarten
on fire.

“Sarah! The fire’s getting worse! Do
something!” someone yelled.
<
I spun around, and there was Ashley, all wide-
eyed and fake–concerned.
Seeing me just standing there, she grabbed my
arm, pulling me towards the kids.
These kids were tiny, innocent.
Their parents and teachers had shielded them
from everything.
They’d never seen anything like this fire.
They saw Ashley and me and ran, crying, reaching up.
“Sarah, the fire’s scary! Help us!”
“Sarah, it’s awful! Take us away!”
They looked to me as their leader.
Ashley was pushed to the side.
く
Seeing me surrounded by kids, she shot me a
look of pure jealousy.
Then she said, “Sarah, you need to do
something! These kids are counting on you to
save them!”
Normally, I’d be all about comforting them, but
this time, thanks to my past life, I saw the
malice in Ashley’s eyes.
Under her watchful gaze, I just said, “The fire’s
huge, and there are so many kids. What can I
do?”
Ashley freaked.
“Sarah! How can you say that? These kids‘ lives
are in your hands!”
“Are you going to just let them die? That’s
cold!”

I shrugged, spreading my hands.
“I wish everyone could live.”

“But I’m just a teacher, not freaking Superman.
What can I do but die with them?”
I glanced at Ashley, a sly smile on my face.
“You’re so worried, Ashley. I’m sure you’ll stay with us and see the kids through, right?”
