The police officer grabbed Mike.
Mike struggled, yelling, “Let me go! I didn’t do anything!”
I picked up the tape.
I turned on the flashlight. There were
fingerprints on the tape.
My heart skipped a beat.
The reason my fingerprints were on the panel last time.
But I wasn’t happy. I felt numb, angry, and cold.
I hadn’t forgotten to watch Mike.
He’d tried to do the same thing he did last time, putting my fingerprints on the panel.
I told the cop what I thought.

He nodded, sending two officers to protect the
panel.
He called the forensics team to compare the
fingerprints on the tape.
Mike was sweating bullets.
hley panicked, staggering back.
Don’t let them near the panel!”
Ashley shoved people and ran for the panel.
The police caught her, slamming her to the
ground.
Her face was pressed against the dirty floor.
I walked up to Ashley, looking down at her.
“Trying to destroy evidence, Ashley?”
I was on top, she was on bottom.
She glared at me, tears streaming down her
face.
Ashley spat, “You bitch!”
“It’s your fault! If you hadn’t gotten in my way, I
wouldn’t have had to mess with the panel!”
The officers returned from the panel.
They nodded at the captain. “The panel was
tampered with. Ashley’s fingerprints are on it,
and someone else’s…”
Ashley gasped, cheering up.
“I’ll talk!”
“Sarah did it! She was going to mess with the
panel, and I was going to fix it!”
<
I laughed.
The parents and reporters stared at Ashley.
I said, “Ashley, you’re contradicting yourself.”
“You said you messed with the panel, and now
you’re saying you were fixing it! Make up your
mind!”
Ashley wouldn’t give up, trying to stop the
police from finding the other print.
The police checked the DNA database.
The other print belonged to the principal.
