Chapter 6
“I won’t blame you for kicking me out, but don’t expect me to take the fall for her!”
My words made my dad so angry that his chest was heaving and the next moment, he raised his hand to strike me again.
“You ungrateful brat, I’ve wasted all these years raising you!”
The police quickly stepped in to intervene, explaining, “You‘ re mistaken, ma‘ am. The person who called the police isn’t this lady. She has nothing to do with it.
My mom wouldn’t listen to the police. She stubbornly insisted, “If not her, then who is it? Who else could possibly be against us?”
“She’s always had a problem with her sister, never been satisfied with anything. She’s like someone coming to collect a debt from our family!”

“Kathy, I’m telling you right now- there’s no place for you in our family anymore! Get out of my house right now!”
At this moment, Kathy spoke up, “Exactly! The drugs have nothing to do with me. She’s the one who sent the medicine to Mr. Miles, how can you blame me? I’ve been kind enough to take the heat for her and now she’s repaying my kindness with ingratitude!”
“She’s just jealous that Mr. Miles is interested in me! It’s because she’s envious that she called the police!”
“She’s the one who drugged him, hurry up and arrest her!”
The neighbors, who hadn’t gone too far, started to murmur in my defense.
“Sarah, this poor child has been so well- behaved from a young age. She always wore Kathy’s hand–me–downs. They re both daughters, but I’ve never seen such biased parents!”

“A child like her could never do something like drugging someone. It’s obvious who the real culprit is. What a tragedy…”
The voices reached my parents‘ ears, but they remained unmoved, their expressions unchanged.
At that moment, my heart shattered in disappointment.
I stayed silent, pulling my suitcase and preparing to leave the scene.
After just a few steps, my father rushed up, grabbed my hand and wrenched the
suitcase away from me, slamming it hard onto the ground. My clothes spilled out everywhere.
“Where do you think you‘ re going? You‘ re not going anywhere until today‘ s mess is sorted! Get over here and go with the police, let your sister go on her date!”
The police tried to intervene a few times but couldn’t find the right moment to

speak.
Just then, a Cullinan Rolls–Royce pulled up nearby.
From the car, Chester’s assistant stepped out and walked over.
Kathy’s eyes immediately lit up and she waved at him. “I’m here! You‘ re the one Mr. Miles sent to pick me up, right? Let’s go, I’m ready!”
