Chapter 9.1
“Well… he seemed far from a coldhearted
person.”
But if Chester found out I was the one from that night, I wasn’t sure he’d stay this
calm.
Lost in my thoughts, I walked with my head down, unaware that he was guiding me out of the hospital. When I finally looked up, I froze in surprise.
Franklin flicked my nose playfully, smiling. “Alright, go get some rest. Did you really think I couldn’t tell you were lying?”
Before leaving, he studied my face with a gaze that seemed to sink into distant
memories.
“You’re the same age as my sister. I wonder if she’s doing well now. Does she blame me for not finding her all these years?”

Chapter 9.1
The story of the missing Chandler Family heiress was something I’d heard about from colleagues more than once.
But I was, after all, an outsider–it wasn’t my place to say much.
I could only offer some words of comfort. “Don’t worry. If that woman knew how long you’ve been searching for her, she’d forgive you. A family as loving as yours is something others could only. dream of.”
He smiled faintly, his gaze fixed on me. “And what about you? Do you envy it too?”
I nodded firmly.
After saying goodbye, I left the hospital, unaware that he stood there, lost in thought, staring at a single strand of hair in his palm.

Even though I had braced myself for their venom, reading their cruel and irrational accusations still sent a chill through my
heart.
In my past life, I had tried to intervene, but instead of gratitude, they‘ d turned on me with Kathy, blaming me for ruining their chance at wealth.
When I died, not a single one of them came to claim my body, leaving it to grow cold in the morgue.
If everything I did was destined to be wrong, then this time, I would do nothing
at all!
I quickly typed a response to them.
[Not a chance! You want me to take the fall and pay the price for her? Forget it!]

Then, I blocked and deleted their numbers.
I turned off my phone, but Chester’s behavior today still left me puzzled.
Since the surveillance footage had already been retrieved, he must have seen me on it that night. So why, when the police were involved, did he say nothing about me?
Not only did he not blame me, but today… it almost looked like there was a subtle smile on his face.
Before I could make sense of it, a flood of news articles overwhelmed my screen. Somehow, my parents had gotten in touch with the media. They twisted the facts completely.
They claimed that I had intentionally encouraged my sister to drug Chester and seduced him into bed.

me as the villain who first called the police and had my sister arrested. I was blamed for dragging the family into a massive 20. million debt, while I supposedly severed ties with them and ran off to live a carefree
life.
The online community, unaware of the full story, only saw the rumors about Kathy and Chester from a few days ago.
In the blink of an eye, they ripped me
apart.
They accused me of being manipulative and scheming, deliberately setting up my sister. Not only did I spread rumors online to offend the Miles Family.
But…
I also heartlessly abandoned my elderly
parents.
