Chapter 10
He wanted to ask more, taking a step forward but was grabbed by the collar by a tall man.
“Who are they?”
A tall man with blond hair and blue eyes asked in confusion.
I rushed over and hugged him, my face lighting up with surprise. “Hey! Why are you here?”
He smiled bashfully. “Mom made your favorite cookies and asked me to bring them to you.
“She said she was worried that if you came back too late, the cookies wouldn’t taste as good.
“You still haven’t told me. Who are these people? Are they trying to hurt you?”
I didn’t spare them a single glance, only letting out a sneer. “Just irrelevant people. It’s fine, just kick them out.”
“Come and see the flowers you gave me. I think I’ve taken good care of them.
“When you leave, take them all back with you.”
The man smiled indulgently, turned around, and ushered the
stunned group of people out the door.
That was the last time I saw Damien and my family.
The next time I heard about them, I was already back home with my husband.
My friends sent me a message, updating me on what had happened to those people.
After seeing that I had truly gotten married, Damien fell into a deep melancholy, unable to get back on his feet. He spent all his days cooped up at home drinking.
One night, drunk out of his mind, Zara once again impersonated me, and they ended up in bed together in a drunken haze.
Reluctantly, Damien married Zara.
Their married life turned into chaos. Zara exposed her true colors, being selfish and careless with money.
Unable to bear it any longer, Damien decided to divorce her, but an enraged Zara stabbed him.
She thought that Damien had betrayed her.
After stabbing him, Zara knew she couldn’t escape the consequences, so she ran back to my family and set fire to their house.
Watching them struggle in the flames, she laughed like a
“How dare you kick me out? I finally got rid of that annoying Nelia, and you couldn’t even love me properly, and now you want her back!
“I’m your little princess, you should be pampering me! If not, I wouldn’t have drugged those two idiots.”
Her words revealed the bloody truth.
It turned out that my uncle and aunt had been in a car accident because Zara had slipped a bit of sleeping pills into their water, just to get herself adopted into my wealthy family.
Only then did my family understand the truth. They regretted their actions, but it was too late.
Dad died in the fire, Cassian was severely burned, and Mom suffered from the effects of inhaling too much smoke, leaving her with lifelong health problems.
Only after experiencing that pain did they finally understand what I had gone through.
I heard that later, Cassian and Mom tried to reconcile with me and even went to my husband’s home.
Unfortunately, I had long since achieved financial freedom and was traveling the world with my husband.
They were the only ones trapped in the past.

I had already moved forward.
