Chapter 20
Their bodies were pressed tightly against each other.
Serena felt something against her thigh, causing her body to stiffen in an instant. What makes them think they can keep taking advantage of me?
Fury surged through her as she bit down hard on the tongue invading her mouth.
“Ouch!”
Lennox Inhaled sharply from the pain and pulled away from her. He licked his tongue, tasting blood mixed with the faint flavor of her lipstick.
Releasing his grip on Serena, he glared at her coldly. “You’ve got quite the bite! Were you planning to take my tongue off?”
Serena furiously wiped her mouth, and when she saw his face, her eyes widened in shock.
Her hand trembled as she pointed at Lennox. “It’s you! What are you doing here?”
She had assumed the man from their one–night stand would disappear from her life forever. But now, here he was, in her boss‘ office. How can this be happening?
She glanced around, but there was no one else in the office.
What on earth is going on?
Lennox took a step back, crossing his arms lazily as he looked her over. “Forget about why I’m here for now. Who told you to wear that makeup? Go wash it off.”
Instinctively, Serena shot back, “What’s it to you whether I wear makeup or not?”
“Are you trying to get me to punish you again?”
The memory of the “punishment” in the hotel made her glare at him bitterly, though she didn’t dare defy him outright.
They were alone, and if she pushed him too far, she’d be the one paying the price.
Serena had always known when to pick her battles.
There was a small side room in the CEO’s office, a private space where he could rest when he was tired. Lennox opened the door and shoved her inside. “Wash that mess off your face before you come out.”
Serena gritted her teeth. Before she could protest, the door slammed shut behind her.
At least Lennox hadn’t followed her in, and she breathed a small sigh of relief.
The room was spacious, dominated by a black double bed with silver–gray silk sheets. The atmosphere was cold, the kind of place a single man would live.
Serena snapped out of it and slapped her cheeks. Come on, Serena. You’re really admiring the decor right now?
With a heavy sigh, she found the bathroom and used the products on the counter to wash off her makeup. When she emerged, Lennox was already seated on the office couch, clearly waiting for her.
He looked her over and nodded approvingly. “That’s more like it.”
He beckoned her over.
*Come, sit next to me.”
She’d have to be out of her mind to walk into that trap.
Chapter 20
Serena stayed as far from him as she could. “You still haven’t told me what you’re doing here.”
“Why do you think I’m here?”
“W–What’s your name?”
“Now you want to know my name? You’re a little slow, aren’t you?” Lennox’s intense gaze never left her lips.
“The kiss earlier had made her lips even more swollen and red, giving them a dangerous allure.
He could feel the heat rising in him again.
He had never met a woman who could make him want her just from a single glance. Not only did she still stir his desire after they had slept together, but he was consumed by thoughts of her.
She was like an addictive drug–one taste, and he was hooked.
And for now, he had no intention of quitting just yet.
So, he used whatever underhanded means he could to bring her closer. The last few days had been agonizing for him, though. He’d had the contract printed by his secretary the day before. But to avoid making Serena suspicious, he waited until today to present it.
He had been holding back for too long.
Sure, he could easily force her into submission, but where was the fun in that?
Leaning back on the couch, Lennox watched Serena’s expression shift from pale to shocked, then to disbelief. A small smile tugged at the corner of his lips.
“Figured out who I am yet?”
Lennox… Lennox Savill? You’re Lennox Savill?”
She didn’t want to believe it, but she couldn’t deny it. If he wasn’t Lennox, why would the contract be so Strange? And why were they the only two people on the twenty–sixth floor?
Serena had heard of Lennox in her previous life, but he kept such a low profile that even the media didn’t dare dig into his life. She had never seen a photo of him in the news or online.
That was why she hadn’t recognized him right away.
Serena took another two steps back, putting more distance between them. “Lennox, what do you want from me?”
He smirked. “I want you.”
Her face flushed with a mix of shame and anger. “You shameless j*rk!”
Her reaction made Lennox’s mood lighten considerably.
It was worth all the effort he’d put into getting her into his company.
He stood up from the couch and took two steps toward her.
“Stay… Stay away! Serena grabbed a potted cactus from the desk, retreating until her back was against the wall. She held the cactus out in front of her, trying to sound braver than she felt. “If you come any closer, I swear I’ll throw this at you! I really will…..
Lennox stopped in his tracks.
He leaned in slightly, folding his arms as he smirked at her. “Didn’t you promise to pay me back? You don’t seem very sincere.”
Serena bit her lip.
She had said those words when they left the hotel, but the truth was, she wanted nothing more than to cut ties with him. Hence, she hadn’t made any move to repay him.
If it’s money you want, I’ll pay you. But I’m breaking this contract!
There was no way she was staying with this predator’s company.
Her gut told her it was far too dangerous.
“Breaking the contract?” Lennox’s eyes narrowed dangerously.
“That’s right. I want out!”
“Did you read the contract?” Lennox yanked the contract from her hand and pointed to the breach clause. “Take a good look at that. 100 million dollars for breaking the contract. If you can come up with that, we’ll terminate the agreement right here.”
Serena fell silent, biting her lip harder.
Even if she sold everything she had, it wouldn’t come close to 100 million dollars.
you? You
Furious, she glared at Lennox. “You did this on purpose, didn’t set me up!”
He lures me into his trap!
He didn’t deny it. Instead, he nodded with a sly grin. “You’re right. I did.”
Serena’s eyes burned with fury, and she couldn’t hold back any longer. With all her strength, she hurled the cactus in her hand straight at him. “Go to hell, Lennox!”
With a swift move, Lennox dodged the flying cactus easily.
He closed in on her, his face darkened, and in one swift motion, he caged her between the wall and his chest.
Their breaths mingled in the small space between them, and Serena’s face turned pale as she felt the heat of his anger. Terrified, she squeezed her eyes shut.
“Little minx, are you inviting me to kiss you? Well, I won’t say no if that’s what you want.”
Shameless!
When have I ever invited him?
Serena’s eyes snapped open just as he leaned closer. Panicking, she clapped a hand over her mouth and glared at him. “What the hell do you want?!”
The contract was still clenched tightly in her other hand.
Earlier, she thought she had finally found a golden opportunity. But now, holding the contract felt like Clutching a burning coal–she was itching to throw it right in Lennox’s face.
What a devious, vile b’stard he int
She silently cursed him with every insult she could think of, glaring at hirm with all the anger she could muster.
Lennox chuckled softly.
He had her pinned between his arms, and for some reason, watching her fume made him inexplicably happy
When he saw her eyes brimming with unshed tears of frustration, he decided to stop teasing her. Dropping his arms, he released her.
Serena immediately jumped away, putting as much distance between them as possible.
Lennox’s expression darkened again.
“You can speak your mind. J–Just don’t come near me,” she stammered, holding her ground.
Lennox let out a cold snort.
He had figured it out. With Serena, playing nice wasn’t going to get him anywhere. The only way she’d listen was through force.
Without another word, he grabbed her wrist and pulled her along. This time, Serena didn’t resist and followed him out of the office without protest.
Once they were in the hallway, she quietly sighed in relief.
No matter the situation, being outside the confines of a small room alone with Lennox was far safer than staying cooped up with him.
Lennox grabbed her wrist and strode forward.
He was very tall,
At six foot one, he stood tall above her, and his long strides were too fast for her to match. She stumbled as the pulled her along. She’d worn seven–inch white heels to sign the contract today, even though she wasn’t used to them, and Lennox’s quick pace only made it harder.
Her ankle twisted.
“Ah-!”
Serena fell to the floor, landing hard on the white marble tiles that covered the entire twenty–sixth–floor office. The pain shot up from her ankle, and tears pricked at her eyes.
B*stard! This is all his fault!
She silently cursed Lennox.
Lennox let go of her wrist and turned around. He saw her lying on the floor, gripping her right ankle.
Her right ankle was already red and swollen.
His brows furrowed in irritation.
“If you can’t walk in high heels, don’t wear such tall ones. Serves you right for falling.”
Although his words were harsh, he walked over and crouched down beside her. When he saw her eyes filled with tears, his frustration began to fade. He let out a sigh. “Can you still walk?”
Fake sympathy!
