Chapter 21
Serena bit down hard on her lip, struggling to stand. But the pain was unbearable. Before she could get up. she collapsed to the ground again.
Her elbows and knees stung–they had scraped against the hard floor, and she could feel her skin burning.
It was bleeding.
Lennox sighed again and reached out to help her.
But Serena slapped his hand away, glaring at him. “I don’t need your fake sympathy!”

If he hadn’t dragged her along, she wouldn’t have fallen like
Lennox’s face darkened.
Patience was never his strong suit, and seeing Serena refuse to cooperate only made him frown Without bothering to argue, he simply scooped her up in his arms and carried her toward the elevator
“Let go of me, you j’rk!”
“Shut up!”
Serena squirmed like a restless snake. “Put me down! I can walk by myself!
The thought of being carried out of the elevator like this, where anyone could see, would leave her with no dignity at all. But Lennox ignored her protests, stepping into the private elevator and pressing the button for the first floor.
The ride from the 26th floor to the lobby wasn’t exactly short.
This was the private elevator reserved for the CEO, so no one would interrupt them midway.
Still, Serena felt uneasy.
If anyone saw them, she wouldn’t be able to explain her way out of it, no matter what.
Finally, she decided to change tactics. Gently tugging on Lennox’s sleeve, she looked up at him with pleading eyes. In a soft voice, she asked, “Could you please put me down? I can walk, really
“Still talking back?” Lennox lowered his head, his eyes narrowing at her.
Shameless! He is using this as an opportunity to blackmail her.
But she had no choice. Swallowing her pride, she lowered her gaze, not wanting him to see the fury in her eyes, and nodded reluctantly. “No more.”
You’ll behave from now on?”
“Yeah.”
Seeing that Serena had calmed down, Lennox felt quite pleased. He didn’t really want to keep carrying her, especially since she was wearing a short white skirt, and the way he held her made it too easy for an accidental wardrobe malfunction.
His woman wasn’t for anyone else’s eyes.
Lennox set her down.
As soon as her feet touched the ground, a sharp pain shot through Serena’s right ankle. Instinctively, she wanted to leap away from him, but when she saw the dangerous glint in his eyes, she swallowed hard and forced herself to stay put, standing miserably by his side.
The elevator continued its descent, the silence growing thick. It was so quiet that one could hear a pin drop.
Lennox’s gaze drifted to Serena’s long, bare legs. He frowned.
There wasn’t a single part of her that wasn’t enticing.
Her long legs were straight, smooth, and glowing, the kind that made any man’s blood run hot at just a glance.
From now on, no more skirts this short.”
