Chapter 24
Serena never imagined Lennox would actually take her to his place.
In the underground parking lot, she held onto the back of her seat, her eyes warily fixed on Lennox. “I’m not getting out. I won’t go to your house!”
Lennox opened the passenger door. As he saw her expression, his gaze flickered slightly. With his arms crossed and a lazy look, he asked, “Are you sure you’re not coming out?”
“No, I’m not!”
No way am I going down! I’d have to be crazy to go home alone with a man, especially one as dangerous as him, especially since we have such a complicated history.
It’s just too risky.
“Lennox, Mr. Savill. I have friends waiting for me at home, so why don’t you just let me go back?”
He shot back flatly, “Not happening.”
Seriously, is he made of stone?
In the end, Lennox simply lifted her out of the car and started heading toward his apartment
Serena flailed, her limbs thrashing as they got closer to the elevator. Panic flared as it loomed closer, like some monstrous trap she’d only be dragged out of in pieces.
Her face turned pale, and she struggled even harder.
“I want to go home! Take me home!”
“If you keep moving. I’ll drop you right here,” Lennox stopped in his tracks, giving her a frosty glare.
Serena was on the verge of tears..
“She’d met enough people in her life to know when someone wasn’t bluffing, and Lennox definitely wasn’t. She stiffly glanced at the concrete floor, recalling that tumble she’d taken in the office earlier.
To spare herself from yet another bruised backside, Serena begrudgingly gave in.
She silently consoled herself, reminding herself that they still had to discuss the contract. She couldn’t afford to anger him–not when he held all the cards right now.
With a huff of frustration, Serena let her head droop, completely missing the brief glint of amusement in Lennox’s eyes.
He resumed walking.
This was Serena’s first time stepping foot in a strange man’s home.
She’d figured that someone like Lennox, with his executive status, would live in a huge mansion or, at the very least, a penthouse suite in some high–end complex with a pool and a private garden. But to her surprise, Lennox’s place was just a two–bedroom apartment in Alderspring’s prime district.
It was a high–rise unit on the 26th floor.
As Lennox carried Serena out of the elevator, she couldn’t help but wonder if he had some obsession with the number twenty–six–his office was on the 26th floor, and now he lived on the 26th floor, too.
