I’d ridden on sleds with Elias many times before, but today, I realized just how clunky they
were.
Vivian was so small, but it took every bit of strength I had to move it.
Vivian gave me orders like I was her servant, pushing me forward.
My nails dug into my palms as I forced the sled to move, stumbling as I dragged it.
Vivian snapped the whip against my back, her voice full of mockery.
“This is hilarious.”
I swallowed my hurt, but tears streamed down my face anyway.
She was having a blast, and then she glanced over at Elias.
“Elias, come sit with me. I want you to ride the sled with me.”
The crowd cheered, urging Elias to join her.
I met Elias‘ deep gaze, my tear–streaked face staring up at him.
He frowned at me. “You really want to put yourself through this? Maybe you should just stop.”
I forced a smile. “I can handle it.”
Everyone knew Elias was madly in love with me, but that was before everything changed the
day he came to marry me, six months ago.
He had a bouquet of red roses, but when he walked through the door, he found me in bed with another man, our clothes disheveled.
I had been set up, and they had a video.
No matter how much I tried to explain, it was useless.
Elias, humiliated, publicly broke off the engagement, and my parents died in an accident shortly afterward.
I couldn’t handle the grief and sank into despair, only to be diagnosed with a terminal illness
a month later.
The day I finally worked up the courage to find him, he shoved me out, holding Vivian in his
arms.
Even though my heart was shattered, I had no choice but to swallow my pride if it meant getting a little more time to live.
With every ounce of strength, I kept moving forward.
Elias had once told me he’d die without me.
But now, it was clear that it had all been a lie.
Vivian had him completely charmed, and I’d heard she was his first love.
After everything that happened, she became his new obsession.
She pouted, saying she was cold, and Elias immediately wrapped his arms around her.
He impatiently told me to stop.
My arms were sore, my hands shaking as I clung to the last shred of my pride.

Elias picked Vivian up in his arms, and with a pitiful look on my face, he pulled out a thousand
bucks from his wallet and handed it to me.
it.”
“You’re begging for money, and this is what you get. If you want more, come again.”
I never imagined that Elias, who always kept his word, would stoop this low.
“Didn’t
you promise that if I pulled the sled, you’d lend me the money?”
I spoke softly, but Elias just mocked me.
“A thousand bucks is nothing to you? What? You think you’re some rich lady? Take it or leave
He threw the cash at my face, and the wind scattered it everywhere.
Yeah, after my parents died and the company went bankrupt, I was a broke, lonely woman.
I scrambled to pick up the money. Who would turn down cash?
