“Keep removing the oxygen, until it’s enough
for only one person. She’ll know what it
means to be helpless.”
“Whoever let Hazel out is fired!”
There was less and less air.
The men decided to seal the door to keep
their job.
To let the baby live, I slapped him, hoping
that he would start crying.
Chad noticed and started to get closer to the
aoor.
But Ashley was holding on to her hurt and
cried out in pain.
Chad went to Ashley.
Everyone was slowly disappearing.
I gave up.
Chad wasn’t there.
There was nothing I could do.
“Ashley got hurt because of you. Stay inside
and repent. Sign the paper and bég Ashley,
then I’ll let you out!”
For the sake of my baby, I’m willing to
く
apologize.
But Chad left.
The voices started to fade.
The baby was weak.
The warm body was turning cold.
I closed my eyes.
God must have been helping Chad to let my
spirit see his happiness.
Ashley was sitting on Chad’s legs, crying.
“Chad, I’m blind, and now I have a hurt leg.
No one will love me in this life.”
Г
Chad started to comfort Ashley.
“Ashley, you’re the woman I love. Ashley’s
birthday is coming up and everyone will
know.”
I felt bitter.
He told my mom that I was the one he would
always love.
His “love” was a joke.
I was with Chad and Ashley had her birthday.
Chad and I gave up our lives when Chad was
celebrating Ashley’s 24th birthday.
I and my baby were frozen in blood, while
く
Chad was holding a bonfire for Ashley.
My spirit wandered around.
Hazel didn’t see him.
I was ready to give my baby to Ashley.
I felt pain.
Chad told Ashley that she was his wife.
Chad, I’m sure, can accept his betrayal.
It was the result of me giving in to him.
He also remembers that I loved him for eight
years.
We met eight years ago and got married five
years ago,
It was never enough.
Six months ago, Chad went overseas to
further his studies and I stayed home.
He brought Ashley to the hospital to find me.
Ashley told me that her eyes hurt and asked
me to give her treatment.
She used my medicine, covered her eyes, and
started to scream.
She told me that she couldn’t see anymore.
I gave her an IV.
Chad yelled and called me a bad woman.
Chad grabbed my face and said to donate my
cornea.
I can’t, I’m a doctor, and my patient needs
- me.
I’m a mother and I have not seen my child.
He pointed at my stomach, “You’re not a
good doctor, just give Ashley your cornea.
Give birth and pay off her debts.”
I couldn’t figure out how Chad became like
this.
Chad was with Ashley behind my back.
Ashley’s eyes were more important than my
life.
く
Chad ordered the men to tie me up and Dr.
Wayne didn’t give her the surgery.
Ashley yelled.
Chad woke up and comforted Ashley.
“Ashley, what’s wrong?
“I gave you my kidney, and now I can’t see. I
also have a stomach ache, it hurts.”
I was surprised.
Ashley said she donated her kidney to Chad.
Chad was sympathetic.
I don’t have a kidney and started to laugh and
く
cry.
I’m the one who donated my kidney to him.
We have been together for five years, and my
husband believes a woman that he once left.
Ashley was crying and Chad was scared.
He grabbed Ashley and walked to the
basement.
“Hazel, come out. You’re the expert, give
Ashley her medicine.”
Chad didn’t know that I was gone.
The housekeeper handed Chad the key to the
basement.
<
“President Chad, Mrs. Hayes has been in the
basement for the last two days, we can’t hear
her anymore, I don’t know if she’s…”
Chad pushed the housekeeper away.
“Don’t talk nonsense, people can live seven
days without eating or drinking, she’s at
doctor, so she can save herself. I’m letting her
out so she can take care of Ashley.”
The housekeeper opened the door, and Chad
was shocked.
The basement was really dark.
Chad yelled.
“Hazel, come out, I don’t blame you anymore,
just come out.”
<
There was only darkness.
