Chapter 8
Selena cried on the phone, her voice trembling with panic. “Gary, my account is full of people scolding me. What should I do?” she sobbed.
Gary didn’t answer immediately. Instead, he hung up and went straight to her house. When she opened the door, Selena stood there with her big, innocent eyes, her face streaked with fresh tears. She looked so pitiful, as though nothing was her fault.
But to Gary, this façade of innocence only deepened his pain. He had fallen into her trap over and over, and now, this woman- the one who had destroyed his love—was the one asking for his comfort.
With a cold, unwavering tone, Gary spoke, his words sharp with fury. “I’ve warned you countless times, yet you still exposed our private matters to her. Do you have any idea how much it hurts me to think of her crying over this? I’ve spent years

protecting her from this kind of pain, and now you’ve ruined everything.”
His voice cracked, a tremor of anger and sorrow. “I can’t bear it. Why did my star have to leave because of you? I deserve to die for what I’ve done, and so do you. But it was my star who was forced to leave.”
Realizing the depth of his madness, Selena’s fear crept in. Her eyes widened as she bolted toward the door, panic setting

Gary’s rage consumed him as he grabbed Selena by the hair, dragging her across the room. His hand tightened around her
throat, and despite her desperate struggles and pleas, he showed no mercy. Selena‘ s face turned pale as the pressure on her neck intensified, and she struggled to breathe. Only when her body went limp did Gary release her, throwing her to the floor
without hesitation.
Selena, gasping for air, begged tearfully, “I’m sorry, Gary. I love you too much.

I’m younger, more beautiful than Mary. I can do everything she did. Please, just let me stay.”
But Gary’s fury only deepened. He kicked her hard in the chest, making her scream in pain as blood trickled from her mouth. Selena‘ s ribs cracked under the force, and Gary coldly spat, “You think you can compare to my star?”
He ordered her to be dragged away and sent to a mental hospital, his heart devoid of any compassion.
Returning to his company, the
consequences of his actions became clear. Hodge‘ s reputation suffered, and stock prices plunged. Yet, Gary‘ s sole focus remained on one thing–finding me. No matter the cost, he wouldn’t stop until I was found.
When Gary found me, I was far away, in a place where the echoes of war still lingered. I had become a volunteer for Doctors Without Borders in country F,
